Hell's Revenge Jeep Trail - Moab, Utah - The legends and top champions of professional rock crawling, top media personalities and off-road
industry manufacturers all converged to participate in the
Mastercraft
Trail Ride under the stormy skies of the Moab Valley. The rain poured down as the trail ride began to kick off from the Spanish Trail Arena, however the rain and hail only deterred only a few as the list of attending
champions was impressive, as
Mastercraft
is
"The Preferred Seat of Champions."
Off-road racing champion Walker Evans, 2004 SCORE International Class 1 Off-Road Champion John Marking, UROC Supercrawl III Champions Dean Bulloch & Karl Munford, UROC Champion Johnny G, UROC Champion Jason Paule, Pro Rock Champions Joachim Schweisow & Brian Errea as well as many others. The professionals of off-road rubbed shoulders at this epic event with some of the biggest names in the off-road industry. Joining the crew for the trail ride was BFGoodrich Light Truck Manager - Gary Enterline, BFGoodrich Off-Road Manager Dennis Weaver, Skyjacker's Lonnie McCurry Jr., Fabtech's Brent Riley, DIRTsports Publisher Jim Ryan and National Sales Director Kurt Miller, Primedia's Christian Lee and Fred
Williams, as well as many other top industry people.
Soon the rain slowed to a slight drizzle and then the it stopped completely.
All the
Mastercraft
Trail Ride Champions were headed up the first of many fins here on the slickrock of the Moab Valley. The trail, Hell's Revenge, begins with a sharp climb up the first fin of slickrock. With nearly 40 trail rigs headed out for some fun on the rocks of Hell's Revenge, the fun had just
begun.
Rigs were wheeling up the first 18" inch bump where the first of the carnage begin. A very well equipped rig suffered a broken front link rod sidelining a few rigs as repairs were made. CRANE High Clearance provided the latest in Premier Power welding as the link rod was welded
in order for the rig to get back to town and make repairs.
DIRTsports Publisher - Jim Ryan navigated his 1969 Ford Bronco through the entire ride as if he just finished winning the W.E. Rock event last weekend. Walker Evans demonstrated his keen sense of veteran off-road travel as
he took
Mastercraft
CEO-Robbie Pierce for a side trip in the Walker Evans Jeep trail rig. Pierce later commented, " Walker is so good. He put that Jeep in places that are
unbelievable and once again showed why he is a champion."
JohnnyG, a veteran professional rockcrawler, drove his Pinzgauer on the trail ride. The Pinzgauer is a six-wheeled military vehicle utilizing a 1200 cc Volkswagen motor. Built by the Swiss for troop transport, JohnnyG wheeled the six-wheel rig throughout the trail ride with a big smile. JohnnyG's Pinzgauer was equipped with six BFGoodrich Mud Terrains that performed at top levels on the slickrocks of Moab. Rock On Motorsports Papparrazzi - Brittany Sanchez rode shotgun with Johnny G for a short while and said, "Wow, that front window is huge and the rig sits
pretty high so heading straight down the slick rock face was ahhhhh...scary!"
The crew rallied at Hell's Gate where some of the crew enjoyed lunch and the hardcore rock crawlers had a real chance to showcase their moves in
competition rock crawling rigs.
Not long after lunch the skies of the Moab Valley began to darken and before anyone knew it we were in a complete hail storm. Well, a little hail
storm wasn't going to stop the
Mastercraft
Trail Ride Champions and the ride went on.
As the hail storm blasted the slick rock the rigs continued on the trail with Red Rock 4 Wheelers Guide - Eddie Geough leading the way. The skies cleared once again and the final couple obstacles were tackled as SCORE International Class 1 Champion - John Marking spotted the line of trail
rigs through the final tough spot.
The crew exited Hell's Revenge trail and all met up at the road for many laughs and stories from the 2005 Mastercraft Trail Ride at the Easter
Jeep Safari.
