Intro - Moab Easter Jeep Safari 2005
2005 Moab Easter Jeep Safair
Moab, Utah –
Revered by most as the single largest Jeep event held annually, the
famed Easter Jeep Safari kicks off on Monday, March 21, 2005 in
rock crawling heaven, Moab, Utah. Set against the red sandstone of
the nation’s premier rock and trail heaven in the four
corners region of the United States. This zone borders the states
of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona and long has been touted
as an adventurer’s paradise. The area surrounding Moab, Utah
has long been known for world famous four wheel adventure
opportunities, as well as providing spectacular scenic backdrops
into the depths of thousand foot canyons to the reaches of snow
capped peaks. The quiet town is located on the banks of the
Colorado River among several national parks and state recreation
areas.
However, that all changes throughout
the week of Easter Jeep Safari festival as Moab, Utah comes to life
as some 40,000 off-road maniacs invade one of the nation’s
foremost off-road areas. And it doesn’t matter whether you
drive a “Jeep” or a Chevy Blazer there are trails for
everyone. Off road fanatics and professionals all descend upon Moab
for the day time trail rides and the night time fun. Moab boasts
some of the best breweries in the West. The Dirt Nation’s
descent upon the Moab Valley always is full adventure.
The Easter Jeep Safari has a storied history
spanning some 38 years back to 1967 when the first Jeep Safari
kicked off and was coordinated by the Moab Chamber of Commerce.
Back in those days participants simply arrived the morning of the
trail ride and signed up. A far cry from what it is today. If you
have yet to sign up for trail rides throughout the week,
you’ll be lucky to get in at this late date as the trail ride
selection process is now a lottery system. In 1982, the Jeep Safari
grew in such size the Moab Chamber of Commerce could no longer
handle this huge event and they approached the Red Rock 4-Wheelers
Club who has maintained the coordination for this event for over
twenty years.
If you are into the off-road lifestyle this is the
place to be from March 21 – March 26, 2005. Likened to the
NASCAR’s Daytona 500 for the circle track fans, the Easter
Jeep Safari is surely one of the only places you can trail ride
with Supercrawl Champion – Larry “King Full Pull”
McRae, UROC Pro-National Champion – Dean Bulloch or Cal Rocs
Champion – Mark Berger. Now we all know that circle track
fans probably aren’t going to have the opportunity to hang
out with Dale Jr. for a day at the track, unless of course you are
an insider at the track. But at the Easter Jeep Safari you may
leading these rock crawling champions up Hell’s Revenge or
Metal Masher for a day long trail ride! You will rub elbows with
media personalities such as Craig Perrone – Editor/DIRTsports
Magazine or PRIMEDIA’s Christian Lee and Robin Stover. Maybe
4x4 Extreme Television’s Laurie Marcelus all on the trails of
Moab, Utah.
The off-road industry packs the small town of Moab
with professional motor sports teams such as Mastercraft’s
Carnage Crew, JohnnyGRockRacing, Skyjacker’s Sisson Brothers,
RedBull’s Rock Team, as well as, corporate semi
tractor-trailer rigs from Skyjacker, Toyo Tires, BFGoodrich,
FABTECH, ProComp and more. With nearly 40,000 hardcore off-road
adventurers in town you can be sure that the industry leaders are
in town and showing off their latest wares to the off-road world.
On Thursday and Friday of the event, the vendor showcase opens at
the Spanish Trails Arena where the whose who of the off-road
industry will be gathered. Come by and talk with off-road champion,
Walker Evans and find out what makes him tick. And peruse the
latest in advanced technology from the industries top leaders. Take
this opportunity to pick out your new Mastercraft Seats or
Skyjacker Suspension lift kit.
