Yamaha's off-road family continues to produce more offspring. In 1999, Yamaha introduced the all-new electric-start four-stroke TT-R225 and TT-R250. For 2000, Yamaha introduces three all-new motorcycles, the TT-R90, TT-R125 and TT-R125L. The 2000 line of Yamaha off-road bikes, eight models total, has machines not only for the adults, but beginners and kids' bikes, as well.

THE 2000 PW50
|
Designed for introducing kids to the fun of riding, the PW50 provides an easy starting engine and a single-speed automatic transmission with a throttle limiter, so parents can gradually increase the power as the child's skill level increases. The PW50 is powered by a peppy 49cc two-stroke engine. The entry-level, mini-bike features a compact wheelbase for quicker and tighter turns, an exhaust pipe which is smartly tucked out of the way, full front and rear suspension, and drum brakes on each wheel. For an enhanced level of rider comfort and control, the 2000 PW50 features rear suspension with coil springs and oil damper shocks, resulting in a more comfortable ride. Standard with an Autolube Oil Injection system, the PW50 eliminates the chore of premixing gas and oil. Other low maintenance features include mag-type wheels instead of spokes, a CDI electronic ignition and an exclusive shaft drive system. Styled after its YZ siblings, the 2000 PW50 color scheme replicates Team Yamaha's Blue/White factory works graphics. The PW50 is available for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,099. |
