SPORTSMAN 6X6
The
Sportsman 6x6 is at home on the job, on the trail, or hunting.
A new member to the Polaris Sportsman family of vehicles, the Sportsman 6x6 has impressive cargo capacity, towing strength, true 6-wheel drive traction, Polaris 500 power, and now it has the Concentric Drive System to fully utilize all its muscle. The Polaris Concentric Drive System (CDS) aligns the swing arm’s pivot point with the center of the drive sprocket, resulting in a consistently efficient delivery of power to the wheels. The rear suspension is not affected by engine torque, and the CDS maintains a consistent chain tension at all times, reducing chain wear and decreasing the need for chain adjustment or maintenance. The Sportsman 6x6 has a Polaris 500 4-valve, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine with advanced dry sump lubrication system. Electric start is standard, as is the automatic PVT (Polaris Variable Transmission), which requires no shifting and delivers the proper power to the wheels in all conditions, including hauling or towing loads or riding across a rugged work site. The transmission is dual-sensing, so it responds to both engine RPM and vehicle torque load for cooler operation and superior backshifting. The Sportsman 6x6 can provide additional traction with its Polaris-exclusive true 6-wheel-drive. Only Polaris offers such effective 6-wheel-drive, which senses when the rear wheels lose traction, then automatically engages the front wheels with full torque. A thumb switch by the right handgrip lets the driver quickly and easily move between 4-wheel drive and On-Demand true 6-wheel drive while riding. E-Z shift allows a driver to choose the desired gear range: high or low forward or reverse. MacPherson strut front suspension provides 6.7 inches of travel. The rear suspension consists of a center swing arm and a rear swing arm with a scissor stabilizer and 7.5 inches of travel. Braking is supplied by the single-lever all-wheel hydraulic disc brakes and the hydraulic auxiliary hand brake. The Sportsman 6x6 can haul cargo on its front rack (75-pound capacity) or in its new molded rear cargo box. The 800-pound-capacity box won’t rust or show chipped paint, and it has a fold-down tailgate to making loading and unloading easy. The Sportsman 6x6 also has a tow hitch and a 1,225-pound towing capacity. Two grille-mounted quartz halogen lights are standard, as are the speedometer, odometer, fuel tank. |
