Larry Wittman's 1978 K20 Truck
I acquired the truck in 1996 while still living in my native state
of Colorado. The first upgrades I made was to replace the NP203
transfer case with a NP205 and replace the rear axle with a 14 bolt
full-floater. Next, I replaced the V-belt accessory drive system
with an updated serpentine belt system from a 1995 C/K 5.7L. This
allowed my to utilize a compact high amperage alternator and a more
efficient air conditioning compressor fitted with R-134A. After
moving to the rust belt (Michigan), I had gray Rhino Lining bed
lining sprayed below the body side molding and rear bumper. Just
recently a friend and I sprayed a fresh coat of Quasar blue
basecoat/clearcoat. The truck turns a lot of heads in the Detroit
suburbs. Next on the list of upgrades to come, is fuel injection
and a New Venture 4500 five-speed. I can't wait to move back to the
dry and saltless climent of Southern Colorado to enjoy driving this
truck everyday - year around.
