On the left side of the Raptor, remove three screws
to get access to carb end of the cable.
With the cover off, slide the cable end out. Make
sure not to lose the small brass end - you will need to reuse
it!
The new Motion Pro cable is about two inches longer
than the stock cable. Pay close attention to how the stock cable is
routed - you will want to route the new cable the same way.
A sheetrock knife makes quick work of removing the
old grips.
You need to sand the handle bar end smooth. You may
even want to hit it with a light sanding disc. You do NOT want your
throttle to stick.
A light coat of grease should be applied to the bar
before installing the throttle tube. The tube needs to spin ultra
smooth on the handle bar.
Next install the aluminum throttle housing and
attach the cable to the throttle tube.
With the throttle working smoothly, install the new
grips. A little soapy water helps the grip slide on.

We did the smart thing *NOT* and installed the twist throttle the night before a race. Not just any race either, this turned out to be a very tough 13 mile desert course. I recall saying to myself numerous times on the first lap "This was not a good idea.". Sure, we have been riding other quads with a twist throttle quite frequently, but not this one. I would suggest that you plan some easy trail rides to get use to your Raptor with a twist throttle before taking on a race.
I found that I needed to put more free play in the throttle than I started out with initially. The free play allows you a little movement of your wrist/hand without adding throttle when you do not want it.
SummaryThe Motion Pro Kit was complete and works well. Rocky Mountain ATV delivered it in record time, as usual, with great service to boot. Have fun and make sure to take some time to get used to your new twist throttle!
