Fender Flares for Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

Bushwacker Cut-Out Fender Flare Tech

When I bought my FJ40 it had on some fiberglass ford bronco flares on it. Those just had to go. The only problem with removing these, was that the PO (previous owner) did a hack job on the fenders.

I checked the ORC BBS Forums to see what people were running. It seems that the Bushwhacker flares are the ones to get. They are made out of a flexible plastic so they can take some abuse. Of coarse, my favorite online parts place (Summit Racing) had them in stock. I had them to my door in less then a week. Super quick shipping.

Here is what I was up against. I had 19 rivet holes from the old flares, and a hacked up wheel opening.

I began by aligning up the fender flare. once I had the spot I liked, I drilled the top hole, and inserted the 1/8" rivet. I made sure everything was level, and I proceeded to install the rest of the rivets. You will notice that you can see the holes from the old flares, I am going to deal with those as soon as the welder is up and working again.

Here is what the finished install looks like. The Bushwacker flares cover the hack job, and look real clean. Note: Sorry about the multi color paint job, I am trying to find the right color to paint my FJ40.

This install can be done within a few hours. All you need are a few simple tools, a drill, rivet gun, and a grinder. If you plan on mounting these higher to get more tire clearance, you will need to cut the fenders to match.
