A 2019 Ford Ranger prototype mule was captured testing on the streets near the Ford Dearborn, Michigan, plant.

Ford appears to already be testing the US-bound Ranger ahead of the truck's reintroduction to the states in 2019. At a glance, it’s hard to tell if this version looks much different than the Ranger sold globally now. The North American version may wear its own unique styling though, as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) markets that most mid-size pickups are developed for seem to prefer more aerodynamic, car-like styling for their pickups.

It is eexpected that the Ranger will be offered with a full complement of Ecoboost four- and six-cylinder engines, and perhaps a diesel like the new 2018 Ford F-150. Ford may use the direct injected twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 as the premium choice. Ford's new ten-speed automatic, co-developed with GM, is also expected on the reintroduction of Ford’s mid-size pickup.

It’s also expected that two-wheel drive will be the standard option, with part-time four-wheel drive available as an option. The Ranger should be unveiled sometime in 2018.
