Samurai in the desert

Here in Chile there is much different terrain over only a short distance or a single trail, so we need a rig that works well in every type. As a result, I've swapped parts thinking, "all terrain," but mainly my favorite: mud.

I've done almost all modifications by myself, from the body change to the engine rebuild. It's the best way to assure the work will be what you want (and the lowest price).

I mounted my 1986 SJ-413 JX high top body over a 1990 Samurai chassis looking for a wider track, softer ride and the ability to install all Samurai aftermarket parts available today without any problems.

Mods

  • Hand-made 4.16:1 ultra-low transfer case
  • Rear 1510 LockRight locker

  • Spring Over Axle by Petroworks parts
  • 31 x 10.50 Grabber MT tires
  • Centerforce I clutch
  • Calmini exhaust header
  • 2¼" Flowmaster muffler
  • Rancho RS 9000 in-cab control suspension system
  • Heim-jointed rear traction bars
  • Custom snorkel
  • Stainless steel brake lines
  • Front "ARB type" bumper

  • Diff, transfer case and rocker panel guards
  • Hella 1000 spotlights

These are my current mods, but of course I have many swaps planned for the future; like lower gears, a front locker, Boggers and maybe a bigger engine.
