No doubt about it, Darrell Creeks is the type of off-roading nut  that is always making one change or another to his truck.  As many trucks do, Darrell's evolved over time, one piece at a time. Darrell built the custom flat bed himself to help haul the camping equipment to and from the trail.  The front diff is open but the rear end has been welded up to prevent any slippage.  Front leaf spring are standard Superlift 3.5" lift springs.  Darrell originally fabed his own front steering setup but later converted to crossover steering.  An 8000 lbs Warn winch up front takes care of the extraction duties. Low gearing starts with 5:71 ring & pinion gears.  A stock transfer case is mated to a Marlin Crawler 4:70 gear box for an overall crawl ratio of 240:1.  The rear suspension is a completely custom 1/4" elliptical setup with four links, two air bags and assorted other goodies.  Darrell and his wife Jennifer are about the nicest people I have ever met on the trail.  One time a couple of years back he went so far as to cut off (with a hack saw), two sections from is flat bed to act as braces for a pretzeled drive shaft. It was an ugly repair, but it worked. If you ever catch them in camp make sure to ask Jennifer for some of her famous chocolate chip cookies! After owning the Toy for about seven years they sold the truck and bought a '94 YJ.  I guess after awhile it's time for a change.  I know full well it's not going to stay stock for long.  I am sure Darrell is already at work modifying his Jeep to perform on the trails.
