The "X" Factor: Team Xterra RAcing

Apr. 01, 2007 By Samuel C. Knight
“BEST IN THE DESERT” racing series has a new horse on the track. When Dave Blakely teamed up with NISSAN, he chose a winner. Xterra models, starting in 2000, have gone through their changes but have always been considered legendary in the world of SUV’s. The proud Xterra enthusiasts rival that of JEEP owners for quality in construction and prominent off-road prowess. Dave’s 05 Xterra is in fact the very same. It originally was the silver vehicle used by NISSAN throughout promos and commercials during it’s Cinderella year for the larger frame base and revamped suspesion. The days of  torsion bars are a thing of the past and dawns the popular upgrade of coilover shocks.

After an inaugural year of trials and tribulations, plus a 3rd place showing in the VEGAS 300, Dave Blakely and co-pilot Robert Pinion have high hopes of putting TEAM XTERRA RACING on the map. May I also mention sharing shop space with Alan Gerber “06 BITD CLASS 1000 CHAMPION”. With lots of passion for off-road racing and a great supporting cast, the team will dig their GOODYEAR MTR’s once again in the “TERRIBLE’S TOWN 250. The race will take place in Pahrump, NV on April 27-29. After that they will gear up for the great “VEGAS to RENO” race in late August.  Look for TEAM XTERRA RACING to blaze in the stock mini class 1800. Everything mainly remains stock for this racing class. Aspiration upgrades to the engine, a little love from FOX SHOX and NATIONAL SPRINGS to the suspension, and some “under wraps” customizing from PRECISION GEAR are a few of the influences for this championship hopefuls. Did I tell you that Dave does all the custom fabrication work on this fiery yellow xterra?

Look for updates on TEAM XTERRA RACING and get out their support your fellow NISSAN RACING TEAMS. How many Xterras do you see?
