Bully Dog's -Dog Days 2007

Bully Dog, a leading manufacturer of diesel performance parts based in American Falls, Idaho, hosted their fifth annual Dog Day’s on Saturday July 14, 2007. Originally a dealer training event intended to support Bully Dog’s dealer network with product knowledge, installation seminars, and sneak peaks of upcoming products. To liven up the otherwise dry, business oriented weekend, a dirt track drag race, sled pulls, and a dyno competition were implemented for the second year’s event. In addition to the new activities, this event was now open to the public, and the snowball started rolling from there.

“Three quarters of our staff are gearheads, we had to make it fun somehow”
-Bully Dog’s Mike DeFord

Bully Dog held there annual “Dog Days” event at there brand new facility in American Falls Idaho. The paint was literally still wet as people arrived from around the country.

Five years from the inception of Dog Days the event is unrecognizably big. On top of the 56 dealers that come out every year for the event, 4800 grandstand tickets were sold to spectators from around the country who came to watch epic battles of Bully Dog’s torque titans. The drag race had three classes, the largest of which had 29 entries, adding up to 277 total races in a four hour timeframe. The drags were run street race style, at the the drop of the hand, with a set of traps at the end to discern the winner.

Jerrod from PDI brought out their newly finished MegaCab for the Dog Days Dyno Run. Just days earlier this truck was rumored to hit 1000+hp and 2000+ torque on Diesel alone. Temperatures of 100+ degrees and high humidity kept them far from those numbers.

When asked whether Bully Dog is planning on doing another event for next year, mike responded simply with, “Oh Yeah, Oooohh Yeah” and proceeded to hint at the possibility of more than one Drag Race for 2008.

Drag racing, right where trucks belong, in the dirt!

Another change on the horizon for next year’s event is the addition of more activities for the aspiring diesel heads who’s parents are kind enough to let them tag along. The first of which is the mini drag race started this year using Sunl Off-Road carts for about 50 young competitors.

Sled pulls topped off the weekend's competitions.

If you missed this event this year, mark next year on your calendar. Pack up the truck, turn up the boost, grab the kids, and come out to Idaho for a fun day of racing and pulling hosted by your buddies at Bully Dog.

Over 4800 grandstand tickets were sold, more than 1000 more than last year.
