Upgrading the bumpers on your truck or ORV is probably the most common modification someone can do. A stronger, more utilitarian bumper is a must have for any serous off-roader. Stout Equipment offers a very strong bumper for 95-00 Tacomas that no one should pass up.
If you take a look at the stock bumper, the main problem is the fact that it offers no protection from occasionally dragging the bumper or backing into an object. If your bumper were to hit something, it would probually cave it in with little force, bend the frame mounts, and possibly move it so much the object you backed in to would come in contact with the tail gate.
With Stout's bumper design, there is no way you could rip it off your truck. This bumper is very thick and probably stronger than the frame itself. The bumper arrives to your door with:1) Rear bumper assembly with new mounting brackets to frame
2) 2 D-loop shackles (painted orange)
3) New license plate light
When you take a look at the welds of the bumper, you will see that they are very profesionally done and no chances of cracking them. The welds are very thick and clean. Another great feature of the bumper is the two shackle mounts that it comes with. These are very useful on the trail considering that the stock Tacoma bumper comes with no towing attachments at all. The shackle brackets are very strong, and you'll be hard pressed to break them.
Along with the very strong design of the bumper, it has a very nice fit to the frame and tail gate. The top of the bumper is diamond plated and fits perfectly to the truck. Better still, it doesn't leave any unsightly openings.
The bumper also comes with a receiver hitch that hangs aproxametly 6in. below the bumper. The hitch is a very strong design, and very useful either on the trail or off. The only noticable downside of the bumper is the position of the license plate and license plate light. As you can see in the image, the license plate is off-center and the hole for the license plate light is not directly center. When installing the light it is necessary to grind off the paint inside the hole so the light has a ground. In my opinion Stout could have re-designed the plate and light. Something to the effect of a flip-up plate covering the hitch receiver would be an idea to work with. Finally, the bumper comes with 4 holes to mount the license plate. If I am correct, every State in the United States has the same general size license plate. If you take a look at the bumper, the plate hangs off. That means that their are 2 holes not being used.
