SEMA - Nearly 9,000 booths full of toys!

It was a great day for Off-Road racing at SEMA. It started first thing in the morning with the BFG press meeting. BFG had a special Q&A session with Frank "Scoop" Vessels who got BFG's first Baja wins for them in his Ford F-150 30 years ago. BFG located the winning F-150 sitting in a barn in Canada and over the last 7 weeks Spirit racing restored that F-150. The F-150 will eventually find a resting place in the Off-Road Hall of Fame in Reno.

Skyjacker signed Off-Road racing champion Curt LeDuc for another season of racing. Curt will be defending his title in the Best In the Desert series and going for a 6th Championship in the 8000 class. In the short course world, Curt will be back racing a new Skyjacker Ford in the CORR Pro-4 class.

Easily the biggest news of the day is Toyo and Robby Gordon. Rumors have been flying for awhile but today Toyo made it official. Toyo has signed Robby Gordon for a 2 year deal to race in Baja and the Dakar Rally. Robby will be racing the Dakar in a specially-prepared Hummer H3 with additional backing from Jim Beam and Hummer. In the SCORE Desert Series, Robby's Red Bull trophy truck will be riding on Toyo tires and Robby will be joined by young gun Andy McMillan.
Moving from Off-Road racing to something we can drive every day, Rancho was awarded the Best New Off-Road / 4-wheel Drive Product with their Hummer H3 suspension system. There are hundreds of new Off-Road products but this is the second year in a row that Rancho has won this award. The new Hummer H3 system is completely bolt-on and provides 4" of lift. The kit allows you to run a 37" tall tire on a 20" rim. This combination looks awesome on the H3. Now if we can find a bolt-on supercharger for the H3 to supplement the underpowered engine...

We found this Honda Ridgeline in the lobby. It is has been prepped for the Baja 1000 and will be raced by Gavin Skilton and Jason LaFortune. We saw quite a few other Ridgeline Off-Road products starting to show up - among them, Skyjacker's new 2" suspension kit.

Check out today's photo gallery and enjoy until tomorrow.
