Avenger makes more than superchargers for Jeeps, and its half-cab top looks awesome. |
Avenger’s excellent 4.0-liter supercharger. |
When thoughts turn to producing more power in your Jeep’s engine, Avenger Super Chargers is a natural company that comes to mind. Avenger has been producing their superchargers for the 2.4, 2.5 and 4.0 for many years now. The company now offers its excellent bolt-in blower kit for the 3.8-liter JK mill as well. What you may not know is that the crew at Avenger is also working on some new Jeep parts that will “blow” you away … and they are not engine-performance related, as you might think.
Two-door JK owners have several options for tops, and the factory hard top is great; however, the rear corners love to grab trees and it adds significant weight to the top of the Jeep. Avenger may have the answer to these problems, as its new half-cab top is functional, lightweight and extremely different, which translates to “cool” in our minds.
The Avenger guys even made a slick little tonneau cover to match the lines of the new hardtop, giving it that pick-up truck look. To cut down on interior noise, Avenger also plans to offer a bulk head that separates the cab from the rear cargo area. We were lucky enough to photograph this Jeep on a tight, wooded trail in Colorado. While others were tearing their soft tops and smashing hardtops on trees, the Avenger Jeep, with half cab, snaked through unscathed and remained stable in the most off-camber situations.

The Avenger Jeep is a great package overall, and we were impressed with the top's clearance. |
The Avenger two-door JK works very well in any off-road situation. The Jeep has only three inches of lift, cut fenders, 37-inch BFG Krawler tires, and many other hard-core upgrades. To give the JK more traditional Jeep looks and function, it was decided that better approach and departure angles could be had by removing some of the long frame horns, both front and rear. Avenger removed several inches from the rear frame at an angle. The cross member was ditched, too. In its place, a new bumper/cross member was bolted into place above the frame, allowing for a huge improvement in departure.
The new rear of the top is visible here. |
A similar high-clearance cut was made to the front frame horns while still leaving enough room for a winch mount. A small winch guard and front-end body protection was then formed around the front of the Jeep to prevent damage in the event of a roll over. These modifications look great, are bolt-on, and they dramatically improve approach and departure angles on the JK.

When contacting Avenger about adding more power to your Jeep JK Wrangler, ask them about some of the other products they are currently working on. You might be surprised that they are not just a supercharger company anymore.
