Black Diamond Extreme X2 Long-Arm Suspension Lifts Jeep Wranglers 7"

Feb. 26, 2008 By Press Release

West Monroe, LA: Superlift?s Black Diamond division proudly releases the follow-up to its XCL, the coilover suspension system that revolutionized long-travel Jeep lifts in 1996. The X2 system for 1987-2006 YJ and TJ Wranglers combines extreme off-road articulation with the controlled weight-transfer required for predictable performance at pavement speeds. Providing 7" of lift with 14" front/12.75" rear wheel travel, the X2 clears 37" tires with no other modifications.

Black Diamond X2Controlling body roll is the key. Typically, coils and coilover systems allow excellent suspension travel and articulation at the expense of stability: diving during downhills and tippiness in off-camber situations. The X2 uses rear leafs springs over the axle -- even for the TJ kit -- to create daily-drivable stability. These pre-set 9-leaf packs include military-wrap main eyes, bolt-type springs clips, U-bolt bumpstop plates and eXtreme Travel shackles; weld-on spring pads are available for all factory axles as well as for popular axle swaps. Black Diamond SS monotube rear shocks are included, as are Kevlar-reinforced braided-steel brake hoses.

The TJ front system uses progressive-rate long-travel coils with a choice of monotube gas or hydraulic shocks. Edelbrock monotube coilover shocks that mount to tubular hoops are included in the YJ kit and are optional for TJ systems. Compared to arms with Heim ends, the X2's standard Rockrunner Swivel-Link Long Arms -- made from .188"-wall DOM tubing -- provide greater flexibility, vibration-damping and service life, thanks in part to steel-encased rubber bushings. Also, the four front Rockrunner arms are engineered for optimal weight transfer, easy caster adjustment, maximum ground clearance and to allow full steering. The arms attach directly to the TJ axle housing and use bolt-on 1/4"-thick, laser-cut brackets for YJ applications. Weld-on brackets are available for popular non-stock front axle swaps.

Front steering geometry and tracking are corrected by a dropped pitman arm, a trac bar bracket and an adjustable trac bar. This steering system works with the tie-rod mounted either above or below the knuckle. Each kit includes threaded-style front swaybar disconnects.

The X2 system also features a 2-piece skidpan. The 3/16"-thick inner pan serves as a transmission support, and the full-width 1/4"-thick primary pan installs separately to make drivetrain maintenance easier. Flush-mounted fasteners maximize ground clearance.

Black Diamond offers many options. An eXtreme Clearance Flat Skidpan is available for high-pinion applications. Adjustable Torque Fork triple-axis traction bars are recommended for big-power/tall-tired Jeeps to help control axlewrap without compromising articulation. Optional Superlift eXtreme Ring diff cover protectors are also compatible with the X2 system, as is the TruSpeed speed-sensor recalibrator. All components are backed by Superlift?s Limited Lifetime Warranty.
