The next-generation Destination M/T2 tire from Firestone launches this summer with an exciting new thread design and built-in tire technology made specifically for 4x4s, trucks and SUVs. Off-Road.com was invited to take a first look at the new Destination M/T2 tire from Firestone, providing the opportunity to test it in the woods of Virginia. We put the M/T2 through its paces on an off-road course laid out by Overland Experts. The terrain varied from rocks to slippery mud, which included tight technical sections that required a surefooted tire to come out unscathed.
The new Destination M/T2 mud terrain tire replaces the Destination M/T, which was released almost 15 years ago. With over a decade of real world application and off-road use, Firestone engineers set out to improve their already successful Destination M/T mud-terrain tire. The all-new Destination M/T2 is designed to deliver increased traction in the most demanding off-road conditions by incorporating the latest tire technology from Firestone. It features an all-new tread compound and aggressive tread design that offers greater performance than the previous generation.

Firestone Destination M/T2 tire features a new tread design for increased traction in demanding off-road conditions. The M/T2 also uses a new rubber compound that delivers stronger resistance to chips and tears.
Designed for and tested in deep mud, rock and sand, the Firestone Destination M/T2 tire delivers trusted traction with dependability and durability. Stone and mud rejectors help keep the tread clear of debris, and 23-degree attack angles give the tire strong pulling power.

The Destination M/T2 uses a durable three-ply sidewall construction and more aggressive upper sidewall lugs for additional traction in the mud.
The Firestone Destination M/T2 tire is the ultimate tire for adventure-seekers looking to get the most performance out of their truck or Jeep, said Erik Seidel, President of Consumer Replacement Tire Sales at Bridgestone Americas. Overlanders and weekend warriors expect their tires to perform across a wide range of intense conditions, and the Destination M/T2 delivers an incredible off-road driving experience.

The Destination M/T2 features mud and stone rejectors to clear debris away from the tread and incorporates a 23-degree attack angle thread design that allow for strong pulling power through rough terrain.
The Destination M/T2 improves on several key areas to make it a stronger, more capable off-road tire. An all-new tread compound, three-ply sidewall construction and more aggressive upper sidewall design give the Destination M/T2 increased traction in mud and offer stronger resistance to chips and tears. It also has 20% more biting edges for better grip on slick, wet surfaces and in snow conditions compared to the previous generation M/T.
A day in the dirt with Firestone gave us a good sense of what this new tire can handle. Our first impression is that the Destination M/T2 is a capable off-road tire that is sure to climb in the mud-terrain tire segment. One thing that stood out was how well the clean out is on the M/T2. The mud just comes off the bone, helping it keep on truckin in the muckiest of muck. Its modern thread design and rugged off-road capability make it a good choice for those looking for a tire made to explore beyond pavement.

The M/T2 has 20% more biting edges for better traction on slick, wet surfaces and in the snow. They are also stud compatible.
The Firestone Destination M/T2 will roll out in July 2017 and will be offered in 29 popular sizes for 15 to 22 wheels, ranging from LT235/75R15 up to 37x13.50R22 LT. Key fitments include applications for Jeep Wrangler, Ram trucks, and Toyota Tacoma. For a complete list of tire sizes, please visit http://www.firestonetire.com/.
