If you choose to email a question to this forum, then you must conduct yourself accordingly. Therefore, the following rules are in order:

1. Do not write your email to me IN CAPS. If you do so, I will print out your question and do terrible things to it.

2. Do not request a personal e-mail response. Since I get thousands of questions each month, trying to answer them all would cut deeply into my leisure time, which I value more than your current state of confusion.

3. Try to spell at least in a semi-correct fashion. If you choose to mangle the English language, expect no mercy from this quarter. You might be mocked severely.

4. Do not ask for me to send you copies of my many manuals and literature. I am not in the library business, nor do I want to spend the bulk of my day at the copy machine just because you're too lazy to ask your dealer, or look around a bit.

5. Don't bother me with truly stupid questions, like how to get 50 more horsepower for a buck and a half

6. Now that you know the rules, think carefully and have at it!

Oh yes … I’ll leave your e-mail unedited, for what it’s worth.

SUBJECT:  PROJECT HONDA CRF230F: IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FORKS
what kind of shock oil should I use if im going to be getting about 12 Feet of air. as there anything i can do to beef up tha forks.. thanx email me please

Before you puzzle over what kind of shock you should be using when jumping 12 feet in the air, you should consider what kind of medical treatment you’ll need when that poor bike hits the ground.  Read the Project Series we did on REPLACING THE FORKS! There’s not a whole lot you can do to improve the stock forks, as they’re a real piece of crap.

SUBJECT: HONDA CR250 EXHAUST PHPE

i have recently rebuilt a 1988 cr250r and i want to put a new exhaust pipe on it, however im asking for yourassistance on what would be better to get. I have a FMF fatty pipe but i still the stock pipe on it so what would yourecommend? FMF silencer? ¬

Ideally the FMF silencer would be the perfect fit, but as far as performance goes, most of the power increase comes from the FMF pipe, not the silencer. If the stock silencer fits OK, I’d use that.

SUBJECT: Yamaha YZ 465 FORK OIL CHOICES
Fork oil refills.  How many ccs go into  the front forks and is 10w or 15w  best? Whats the right weight for intermediate to pro riding;?

With the forks compressed and the springs out, the oil level should be six inches from the top of the fork tubes. You’ll have to experiment with the weight of the oil, as you didn’t include your body weight. Start with 10 weight.

Give eBay a shot and failing that, try http://www.vintagemx.us/.  You can place a free ad there and they specialize in older/vintage bikes.

Simply cut the saddle down. We did an article on how to do this. Do a SEARCH on this in ORC and the info is there. While you’re at it, take a moment to consider just how bad your English is … and you’re from England?  Shame!

SUBJECT:  1979 SUZUKI DS 100 TIMING PROBLEM
I have a79 suzuki ds100 no spark, new condenser and points installed, how do i set the points to .035, hold the flywheel so marks align and then set gap, manuel is confuzing about this and very little room to work thru flywheel slot. any help would be great.

Thanks,

Whenever I have a tight situation like this, I resort to good old duct tape to hold the flywheel in the proper lined up position. Then I carefully adjust the points … no problem.

SUBJECT:  A TRUE STORY?  HMMMM ….
Rick, I just had to share this story with you. For many years you entertained me with your stories, and now I think I have one worthy of your time.
Two and a half years ago, on a beautiful October afternoon, I wanted to go for a ride on my '02 WR 250f. However it had a flat front tire. No problem I grabbed my son's CRF 250 and went out.

About three miles from the house, there is a trail with an obstacle we call "Toothless". Don't know why, but the kids named it.

I was feeling good and admiring the handling of the little Honda and decided to try and jump Toothless.
Big mistake! I looped out and had the worst crash I ever had in thirty years.

When the dust settled, I lay there in the dirt. I was fortunate that my son saw the whole thing and came to my aid. Why did you keep the throttle open"?

He called my wife, she called the EMT and I got my first ambulance ride! After the x-rays and MRI, it was determind that I had seperated my pelvis. Hurt like hell! I spent two weeks in a rehab hospital and four months using a walker.

Enough said, you now know the background.

This Memorial Day weekend was the first time I have been riding with my pals, whom I've ridden with for thirty years. Needless to say I wasn't riding as I used to and was very scared of another crash. But I finished the ride with no crashes, some close calls, but I did well.

My pals had a hay day with me. The needling and jokes of my tight style of riding. "You sure are tight, must be the way your cracked ass healed" HA HA.

Back at my house we enjoyed a few beers and I thought I would get even with them. REVENGE! I had a couple bottles of Magnesium Citrate in the pantry and offered the guys a nice cold glass of hard lemonade. "Sure" they said." I mixed the Magnesium Citrate with lots of vodka and they sucked 'em down.
After awhile, they had to leave, being it was Memorial day weekend, they had BBQ's to go to. I live twenty five miles south of Albuquerque where Bobby and Willy live, so I went in showered and later got I got a call from Willy's wife, Della.

The boys had not showed up and she was worried. I said they would be home soon.

After a couple hours , Della calls again and said the boys were sick. "What did they eat"?

"Nothing" I said. "Just a few beers."

"Well they have diarrhea real bad. There is ca-ca all over the drive-way!"

”Well Della I feel fine, they must of got a stomach virus." Click, hang up.

I laughed my ass off, I couldn't stand up!

I could only think of what Super Hunky would say. What a terrible picture. Two drunks with diarrhea!

We’ll have to put this one in the “maybe” category.

SHAMELESS PLUGS: BLACKWATER 100
Welcome to a celebration of The Toughest  Race In America, the notorious Blackwater 100.  Held every year in Davis, West Virginia, the race was designed by Dave Coombs to be a real test of survival. While the race is no more, the tales of this legendary race seem to grow with each passing year.

What we have here, is a collection of hundreds photos, stories and copies of some of the actual programs.  These images tell you more about the nature of the grueling course than the many tales that circulate.
Included in this great collection are stories about the race by Rick Sieman, who competed in this event numerous times.  You’ll also find a story and test on the legendary 760 Maico, the first bike ridden by Rick in the Blackwater race.

The Blackwater 100 is a two CD set.  On Disc 1, you’ll experience a slide show with some classic bluegrass country music to accompany the images.  Just put the disc in your computer, go to MY COMPUTER and hit the BLACKWATER 100 button on your screen.  Make sure you turn your sound on for Disc 1.

On Disc 2, you’ll find the same images, but these are in Picassa 3 format and literally hundreds of photos are there. This means that you can stop any image, or copy what’s on the screen, make it bigger (or smaller) and print out anything you see.  Just go to the bottom of the screen and a very simple menu is there.
Cost for the CD set is $20 plus $5 for Priority Rush mail.  Paypal, checks or money orders OK.  Paypal address is: superhunky@gmail.com.
