Press Release - Team McLeish Bros.
To all of you that
were promised daily reports from the salt flats, I and AOL, apologize.
Seems our mid-week report went into the either around Bonneville, Utah.
AOL did not like the format of our addresses!
The big news was
Nolan White going 422mph with his twin Chevy streamliner, blowing both
parachutes on the backwards return run, and running past the start line
crowd at over 250 MPH on his way to getting stuck in the mud close to
I-80!
Al Teague tried to
beat Nolan's record with the AA Blown Fuel Hemi on the retirement run of
his car, but came 15 MPH short. Al still has the world's fastest wheel
driven single engine record at 409 MPH.
Team McLeish set 5
records in the 100cc, 125cc, 175cc and 250cc classes and just missed
setting a sixth record by .2 MPH. We had one mechanical problem, a loose
fuel solenoid, other than that the Team McLeish Bros. Yamahas ran
perfectly. In fact our 125cc record of 117.9MPH is faster than the
350cc, 650cc, 750cc, and 1000cc class records!
Thanks to our
supporters, Yamaha Motors, RLV Expansion chambers, MyChron data
acquisition, Brad Griffeth, Doug Plank, Robert McLeish, Doug McLeish and
Charlie Guthrie.
A special thanks
goes to Doug Robinson for making it possible to get our last two
records.
A full story with
pictures is in the works, but here are a few shots for now.
