Automotive Transmission Specialists is the brain child of Clint and Ranee Cannon. Founded in 1993, the company specialized in transmission repair for all types of vehicles. And then in 1997, Performance Torque Converters was founded and they started doing torque converter rebuilds in house. Bringing the capability of building torque converters in house gave them more flexibility to service their racing customers. In 1998, as the popularity of diesel trucks grew and more people became aware of the power upgrades available for their diesels, problems with diesel transmissions emerged.
Clint started research and development in 1999 into a more robust torque converter to address the transmission issues. By late 2001, Clint discovered that a clutch pack design was the answer to providing a robust torque converter. And then in early 2002, the development of the TripleLok™ torque converter and a company focus on Diesel Performance products resulted in a rename of the company to ATS Diesel Performance. All rebuilt ATS high performance transmissions include a rebuilt and dyno tested with the ATS high performance valve body. The high performance valve body provides increased ATF flow through the coolers resulting in lower ATF temperatures, better shift quality and longer ATF life. The valve body used in conjunction with out TripleLok Commander will enable torque converter lockup in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears as well as lockup during downshifts from 4th to 3rd which enables stout engine braking. The ATS transmissions are designed to enable towing in overdrive. Finally, the valve body eliminates converter drain-back when your truck is sitting for an extended period of time and provides transmission oiling in "Park," which is very important if you let your truck sit idling for long periods of time.
MAG-HYTEC TRANSMISSION PAN: Mag-Hytec is the leader in aftermarket high-capacity oil pans. Mag-Hytec offers a variety of applications, however, they offer a "double deep" transmission pan for the Dodge Ram truck transmission. Once full, Technician Joe Johnson informed us that the transmission capacity was 22 quarts. The Mag-Hytec provides additional cooling to the trans oil system. |

Transmission TripleLok Commander™ Ver.

The ATS Triple Commander™ has been
developed to provide control over converter lockup in your vehicle.
Factory computers are programmed to disengage lockup under many
conditions that often inhibits the performance of the transmission.
With a TripleLok™ Torque Converter in place these situations
to unlock the converter are no longer an issue, due to the HD
construction of TripleLok™. Push button control allows the
driver to select the speed at which the converter clutch will
engage and disengage. With the power off the Commander reverts to
factory control.
Minimum speed for lockup is approximately 18mph.
This means that the engine will not be killed by forgetting to
unlock the converter clutch when coming to a stop. The Commander
offers better acceleration and cooler running, as well as giving
the user braking or holdback (even without an exhaust brake). If an
exhaust brake is in place the Commander has the ability to
automatically control the brake and converter clutch.
