WSORR: Ford Posts $3,500 Contingency Prize for BorgWarner World Championships at Crandon International Raceway
The Ford Trucks prize money is in addition to a giant $175,000 racer purse announced for the upcoming BorgWarner World Championship Off-Road Races, Labor Day weekend, August 29-31, at the famous off-road track.
“Any Ford off-road racer displaying Ford decals and winning the race will receive the special $3,500 contingency,” said Cliff Flannery, president, Crandon Raceway. “This is above and beyond our already record 2008 purse for the race weekend and 10-lap BorgWarner Shootout.”
The Ford Trucks posting is exclusive to Crandon International Off-Road Raceway, where “Built Ford Tough Trucks” serve as the official vehicles of the fabled Raceway.
“Ford racers can only get it here, at Crandon, for the Big Race at the Big House,” Flannery added.
Karcz Ford of Rhinelander is the local official Ford dealer at Crandon.
The 14th running of the BorgWarner Shootout caps the biggest weekend in the history of off-road racing at Crandon this Labor Day weekend. Ford Truck racers have won eight of the previous 13 races – the most by any light-duty truck manufacturer.

The BorgWarner Off-Road World Championships officially kick off on Friday, August 29 in downtown Crandon with morning driver’s meetings and an annual World Championship Labor Day Parade at Noon.
Racing kicks off on Friday at 6 p.m. with the second annual Forest County Potawatomi “Decision at Sundown” PRO Light Pickup Challenge Cup race. Saturday competition includes Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) points racing and World Championship title racing. Sunday is the final round of WSORR racing on Tour 2008, and season champs will be crowned. The BorgWarner Shootout caps the big weekend and is the last race of the 2008 WSORR season.
