Trophy Truck and Class 1 racers qualified for starting positions today for the 46th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 500. With clean air being such a crucial advantage in any long-distance off-road race south of the border, most teams showed up today to compete for good starting spots for this years race.
Robby Gordon posted the fastest time today out of the 28 racers qualifying, posting a time of 5 minutes, 8.738 seconds. Finishing in second was Bryce Menzies with a time of 5:13.418, while Jason Voss rounded out the top three with a time of 5:17.110.
In Class 1, Cody Parkhouse posted the fastest qualifying time on the qualifying course just outside of Ojos Negros with a time of 5 minutes, 31.98 seconds. Ronny Wilson posted the second-fastest time in Class 1 at 5:36.28, while third went to Jon Walker with a time of 5:41.48.
With qualifying spots now set, tech and contingency will descend upon the streets of Ensenada tomorrow, with the race kicking off at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Racers will tackle a 446.9-mile loop course that begins and ends in Ensenada.
