Primm 300 Rages On!

Primm, Nevada ~ Class 10 leader Kash Vessels is on fire after completing lap three in 4:27:23 averaging 49.816 mph followed by Adam Wik 5 minutes and 38 seconds behind him.

In Class 12, David Scaroni finished two laps in a time of 3:02:07 averaging 47.741 mph. #1200 is leading his competitors by over four minutes on corrected time.

Rob MacCachren leads Class 1/2 1600 averaging 45.946 mph leading by an approximately three minutes.

  In Class 5, Chris Bowman got around the first two laps in 3:32:24 @ 41.807 mph to lead his class.

Class 5/1600 is being led by Ernie Negrete who is averaging 38.267 mph in his first two laps. Class 3 Champion - Donald Moss has completed two laps with an average of 37.103 mph to lead the SUV class.

In the Sportsman Class, 16 year-old Brad Wilson, son of Class 1 racer Rick Wilson, drove his buggy to a first place win in the class.

Eric Fisher continues to lead the Class 9 and Mark Murell in Class 11.

9:55 AM Bilstein Shock Update

Primm, Nevada ~ Earlier we reported that #348 Cervantes was out of the race, its now reported that Cervantes is off the strap and moving under his own power once again. More to follow.

- Rob MacCachren, one of the top-rated off-road drivers of all time, has just come through the start/finish line without any problems leading the 1/2 1600 cars by a large margin.

- 301 Chris Raffo broke out of race between RM 14-15.

- 1101 Brian Calliara out of race.

- #1205 Cameron Steele got out of the car at Pit C and DA's Cody took over when Clyde was suppose to get in, but Cody's blazing a trail on the hunt for the SMD Motorsports crew driving #1200. The #1205 car took time to repair a broken shock at Pit C, which was the delay we had earlier reported. Apparently, Cam Steele is a bit hard on equipment!

- 556 Ruben Garcia is blocking the race course broken down with a exploded axle near RM 63.

- #1206 Stan Potter has a 35 second lead over #1200 David Scaroni.

Cameron Steele is seen here in the Nevada desert asking for forgiveness after finding Mark Post's secret tire stash in the desert while prerunning. Steele and his crew moved the tires from the stashed bush to another bush a short distance away. After a good night's sleep at Buffalo Bills he must have realized that he made a big mistake and he's now asking for a break.

9:30 AM Bilstein Shock Update

Primm, Nevada ~ #1206 Potter is running again and just across the start/finish line is # 1148 Mark Murell, the first Class 11 car to cross the line. SMD Motorsports David Scaroni is reporting a slight problem with his shifter and he's approaching the Main Pit now. Scaroni's team made a slight adjustment and the leading Class 12 car is back running strong.

- 348 Salvador Cervantes is broke and on the strap out of the race.

Primm, Nevada ~ This just in, Desert Assasins Cameron Steele, who had passed Pit C had to return for an unknown problem. It has been reported by our ORC staffers that Cam is having issues in Pit C. Also, just in is #1206 Stan Potter, who was running in the top three with Young Gun - David Scaroni and Cam Steele has been sidelined in his car with unknown problems.

- Will Higman driving the #1004 Class 10 is broke and on the strap by SCORE officials.

8:40 AM Bilstein Shock Update

Primm, Nevada ~ Pflueger Racing's Crew Chief John Hoffman predicted that this race course would be much slower than last year's race and he was so right. SCORE has provided information on the top racers in this first race and the average speeds are approximately 10 mph slower than last year.

In Class 10, Bekki Wik -driver of record, but actual driver is Adam Wik finished the first lap in 1:26:46 averaging 51.211 mph and is followed in second position by Kash Vessels.

In Class 12, Cabo Wabo KingPin and all-around Bad Boy - The Leader of the Desert Assasins, Cameron Steele leads after the first lap followed by SMD's David Scaroni and then Stan Potter in the #1206 car.

In Class 1/2 1600, BFGoodrich's Rob MacCachren, who started in 18th position in class has taken the lead on time elapsing the field with his outstanding performance. MacCachren is racing in both the morning and afternoon race, here in his own 1/2 1600 car and then later in the Mexicana Logistics #4 Trophy Truck. In second place behind Rob Mac is Paul Keller #1624 and then L.J Kennedy in #1611.

The 5/1600 class has all come into the start/finish within two or three minutes of each other as they competition is tight. However, Alberto Castro, driving the #552 car is out of the race along with Chad Mayernick who we had reported earlier was sidelined. The rest are running very close together.

8:10 AM Bilstein Shock Update

Primm, Nevada ~ SCORE is pumping some good old rock and roll through the sound system here at the start/finish line. Lynard Skynard, FOGHAT and Judas Priest to name a few.

The scene on the Primm Valley dry lakebed is a decent breeze and lots of dust as the race traffic mixed in with all the teams and spectators has turned the dry lake bed into a big dust bowl. With visibility down to 1/4 mile the race continues but the visibility is tremendous limited.

- 1200 David Scaroni, driving this season in place of Tom Watson is through RM 25 running clean, as he's in search of another win racing Class 12.

- 1204 Dwayne Reinert out of the race at Beer Bottle Pass and the road crossing with the race course.

SCORE's Sal Fish greets fans at 6:00 AM just prior to the start of the PRIMM 300.

 

7:20 AM Bilstein Shock Update

Primm, Nevada ~ Here's the latest updates from the Primm 300.

- 1401 Tony Robles out of the race with a blown motor at RM 8.

- 579 Chad Mayernick broke at RM 20.

- 1001Tom Ridings broke at RM 54 with a possible blown transmission

- This sidelines top desert racing driver

- Vic Bruckman who was suppose to split time with Tom Ridings in this Class 10 car.

- 1003 Adam Wik first to complete a full lap

- through with a 4 min lead over the next 10 car through.

- 1002 Ron Dalke in second position

- 1003 A. Finch running clean

- 1004 John Cooley smooth down the dry lake bed.

- 1015 Darren Hardesty broke down after tangling up another Class 10 car

- Out of race.

- SCORE Operations reporting an injured course worker at RM 5.6 No word on extent of injuries.

- 1205 Cam Steele first Class 12 through the start/finish running fast.

- 1200 David Scaroni only 21 seconds behind Cam Steele through the start/finish.

- 1213 Randy Ross is broken at Pit B and out of the race.

6:30 AM Bilstein Shock Update

Primm, Nevada ~ Gentlemen, start your engines! That was the call of the SCORE Founder - Sal Fish here on the barren dry lake bed of the Primm Valley. The first cars off the line today were the Class 10's followed by the Class 12's and the massive contingent of 1/2 1600 cars. BFGoodrich KingPin - Rob MacCachren took his Fraley built 1/2 1600 car off the line with one thing in mind...to start the day's racing off with a great start.

SCORE's start/finish line this year is situated in the middle of the Primm Valley Dry Lake bed north of the Buffalo Bill's Casino by a few miles. With temperatures early this morning hovering in the mid-60's mixed with the smell of 113 octane race fuel, it makes for a perfect day of racing action. Stay tuned as we give you the latest from the Primm 300.

SMD's David Scaroni started off this morning in the Tom Watson Class 12 car before he enters the #27 Trophy Truck where SMD Motorsports debuts their new truck.

The Papa's N Beer Crew is racing their 1/2 1600 car. And we'd say Papa's N Beer is synonymous with off-road desert racing.

The youngest racer from the McMillin Family is Daniel McMillin who is poised here in the McMillin 1/2 1600 car.

All the way from his newly built bar in Valle Trinidad - Brent Parkhouse has taken out some time from his new business to come out to race the Primm 300. Brent Parkhouse is a well-known personality in the offf-road community

The Negrete Boys from Tijuana, Baja California made the trek to the Primm Valley in search of another SCORE win in their 5/1600 car.

Ensenada's Tito Arambula, driving his winning 5/1600 went off the line here on the dry lake bed. Tito Arambula won this year's SCORE San Felipe 250 and has always been considered a big threat to win any off-road race.
