Kyle LeDuc, RJ Anderson Sweep at Lake Elsinore Lucas Oil Off-Road Races
The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series returned to action this past weekend for Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2015 short-course season. Instead of racing under the lights at this weekend’s rounds, racers battled under in warm, sunny conditions at the Southern California racetrack, where temperatures were into the 90s during racing.
One of the stories of the weekend is the continued dominance of Kyle LeDuc over the Pro 4 class. Having won three our of four races so far this year, LeDuc swept the competition in the class to earn another two first-place finishes at Lake Elsinore as he looks to defend his class championship in 2014. Rob MacCachren worked to keep LeDuc honest and earned the second-place finish in both races, while the final podium spot in each race went to Carl Renezeder at Round 5 and Greg Adler at Round 6.
After sweeping the opening weekend of racing in the Pro 2 class, Bryce Menzies returned to the top of the podium at Round 5, edging out MacCachren and Jeremy McGrath in second and third place, respectively. Menzies followed up his race win with a second-place finish at Round 6, with Brian Deegan earning his first win of the season in the class. Finishing in third, RJ Anderson put together a solid race at Round 6 to round out the podium.
Anderson’s third-place finish in Pro 2 was just the start of his weekend’s successes, as he managed to sweep the ultra-competitive Pro Lite class both days. Anderson had yet to win a race this season but finished on the podium three times prior to this past weekend. Finishing behind Anderson at Round 5 were Brad Deberti and Brandon Arthur in second and third, respectively. During Round 6’s Pro Lite race it was Sheldon Creed finishing in second behind Anderson, while Casey Currie rounded out the podium in third.
In Pro Buggy, Dale Dondel earned the victory (and his first podium of 2015) in Round 5, holding off Sterling Cling in second place and Garrett George in third. Cling’s second-place finish at Round 5 was also his first podium of the season, and he followed this up with a win in the class at Round 6. Finishing behind him again was Garrett George, while Mike Valentine earned the final podium spot for Round 6.
The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series will have a break in the racing for a few weekends before returning to action at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, from June 20-21. For more information on the series, head over to LucasOilOffRoad.com.
