The second race of the 2013 HDRA race calendar took place this past weekend in Ridgecrest, California. The 250-mile race would test the pro classes in five 50-mile laps around the rough and punishing off-road course. In the end, it took just over 4 hours and 20 minutes for Justin Davis to earn the overall and Trophy Truck win at the event, edging out the two Herbst brothers for the victory.

Davis started the race toward the back of the nine-truck field. He worked through the field and picked off spots where he could. Trying to pass the Herbst team was tough on this course, as he noted it was unique to others in that there are a number of rocks sitting at the edge of the course making it very difficult to pass in the dust. Davis said even the whoops on this course are tough, and he was very happy in the end to be able to win this race again.

The team of Tim Herbst and Larry Roeseler earned second place overall at Ridgecrest. Roeseler handled driving duties for the first half of the race, with Herbst taking the second half of the race and finishing about 45 seconds behind Davis. The team reported experiencing no flats and specifically Roeseler noted how tough it was to pass on the rough course.

Finishing in third place was Troy Herbst, who came in a little more than 5 minutes behind brother Tim. Troy thanked his crew for all the hard work since the last SCORE race in San Felipe. He also thanked Roger Norman, SCORE and HDRA,  and he put out a challenge to older drivers noting they need to step up to the challenge with the crop of good new drivers coming up.

Richard Boyle finished first in Class 1 with a final race time of 4:31:49, edging out Cody Parkhouse for the victory by less than 14 seconds. Andy Myers earned the win in Class 10 with a time of 4:56:47. Lucas Knecht earned the victory in Class 1-2/1600 with a time of 5:32:29.
