Contingency Row - 120 Degrees! - 1530hrs

It's HOT! The contingency row festivities start in just 90 minutes and last 'till 10pm. We're setup on Water Street in beautiful downtown Henderson. The thermometer in the Great White Off-Road.com Truck has not budged off of 120 degrees for hours. We welcome our fellow lovers of heat, dirt and sweat with a hearty 'Welcome to Hell!'. Watch for updates throughout the afternoon and evening.

BFG 39inch Baja TA's!

The Terrible Herbst Trophy truck is sportin' the biggest tires yet for Off-road Desert Racing. Note, the custom bodywork to add that extra inch or two of clearance.

Contingency Row - 118 Degrees! - 1750hrs

It's Still Hot!

Most of the racers are contemplating the heat and forming strategies either mental or logistical. Overall, the theme is "it's not as hot as last year" and "this year we are prepared". The local Walmart has sold out of small kiddie pools. The word is that many racers will fill the pools with blocks of ice and water to keep the crews cool and to cool the driving teams at stops.

Racers line up early

The crowds are building as the thermometer takes it's first trek downward from 120 degrees.

Certainly the idea of holding contingency in the late afternoon and into the evening is bringing out the crowds. The mood is upbeat and on the rise.

Got Wheels?

About to be clad with the new BFG 39inch, Baja TA "Project Tire", a few dozen or more thousand dollar wheels sit outside the multi-hundred thousand dollar, Terrible Herbst Racing" car transporter.

Soon to have a "Baja twin"!

The Collins Motorsports - Three Seat Trophy Truck will soon have a new, smaller sibling built especially for the tight twisty courses now prominient in Baja.

Stay tuned!

Contingency Row - 102 Degrees! - 2250hrs

Folks, sorry for the late update. We are using Verizon Wireless' Express Network for updates and it simply failed between 1900 and 2200hrs. Regardless, the festivities on Water Street simply ROCKED! If you were not here, you missed out. follow along with our pictorial to get a glimpse of the full ife off the Off-Road Desert Racing community

Alan would go!

The pit crew competition simply rocked! The crowds were thick and close. Alan Pflueger used the "Hawaiian, SPAM Power" to place well.

La Bamba

Just west of the radical of the pit crew competition was "the band with no name", belting out "La Bamba" and many more of the songs we all know by heart.

Flat Bills? We never miss!

Devon, from Las Vegas proudly wears the most authentic "Flat Bill" style hat of the event. Ya' gotta think about this. This kid was polite and cordial and loves Desert Racing. Devon, our own "flat bills" areoff to you. Have a good time at the races tomorrow. Think big!

Got Chip? Got Map!

Our pal "The Map" at PCI has the entire race course in her teeth. That little chip is soon to "be the way" that a race team finds themselves down the course and away from BLM penalties and angry ranchers.

Bud 11!

Bud from the cooler of a Class 11. This is "Contingency Row at a Desert Race".

Are you still sitting at home?

Entreprenuer of Heat Relief!

Shelby Steinberger cornered the market on heat relief by buying every "squeeze spray" device at the local K-Mart and Walmart and then reselling same for a 100% profit in the 100+ degree heat of Henderson, NV.

.

Night-line!

Not the liberal trype you see on TV but, real life people having fun.

The last race vehicles trickled through at 9pm with many spectators and fans in the wings. Desert Racing brings out the hearty, 100+ degree night heat or not.

No Bad Days, or Nights!

Jesse Jones is a classic. The "race face" is for tomorrow. Tonite, Jesse is for the best of life without a care.

Good luck my friend! See you at the finish line.

Lap Dance!

Todd, one of Dale Ebbert's dedicated crew members just went through a hip operation. Did this slow him down? No way! Todd tagged along in his 'chair with Shelby Stienberger the on his lap.

Okay folks. The Desert Racing community rocks. We have all had fun tonite and tomorrow the best of the best race! Don't miss the event. See the links above for the details of how, when and where. Be there or be.... Well you know... 'Till tomorrow.!
