Championship Rounds for Traxxas TORC Series in Antelope Valley
The TORC Series held its first event out west this year. Although Sunday’s action would feature memorial races for the late Rick and Jeff Huseman, Saturday’s on-track action would determine the championships in the three key classes of Pro 4x4, Pro 2WD and Pro Light. TORC actually fit both Rounds 13 and 14 into Saturday’s card, giving the fans in attendance an action-packed day of racing.

In the Pro 4x4 class, Rick Johnson earned the victory and secured another Pro 4x4 Championship. He followed this up with another win at Round 14 to put an exclamation point on the season, outlasting the number of issues racers had in the class (Greaves stalled and rolled, Adrian Cenni also crashed).
In the Pro 2WD class, Bryce Menzies held off Rob MacCachren to earn the win at Round 13. The win meant only a few points separated the two heading into the final race of the day. Unfortunately for MacCachren broken rear suspension sustained in a tangle with the k-rail gave Menzies the title.
In the packed Pro Lite class, Brad Lovell earned the championship after an early exit from Andrew Caddell in the first race of the day when he tangled with Matt Cook in a corner and damaged his rear suspension and was unable to finish the race. Lovell essentially just had to run a decent race at Round 14, and although he finished off the podium he did earn enough points to secure the title. Although CJ Greaves earned a win at Round 13 and another podium at 14, he was unable to catch up to Lovell in the points.
Today the TORC Series will conclude the weekend of racing with the Pro Light Traxxas Cup in memory of Jeff Huseman followed by the Ruck Huseman Cup presented by Peak Performance. Be sure to check back with Off-Road.com for coverage of the action.
After getting the okay from the Huseman family, Johnny Greaves went to the line in Rick Huseman’s Pro 4x4 truck after he had issues with his. Greaves took it easy so as not to beat up the truck but he gave the crowd a treat by having the truck on the dirt again.
