Coming off of a win the weekend before, Caselli had the confidence he needed to perform at the top of his game and the championship point’s lead heading into the weekend’s race.
Caselli earned a 3rd place start behind holeshot winner Destry Abbott and Caselli’s FMF/KTM teammate Mike Brown. Both Brown and Caselli moved around Abbott in the first few corners and began to pull out. Caselli trailed Brown through the majority of the first lap until Brown made a mistake that allowed Caselli to move around. “Once I was out front I was able to focus on my race and began to pull away on the group,” commented Caselli.
Brown remained in 2nd after Caselli passed him until he came together with another rider right before the one lap mark causing Brown to crash and hand over the 2nd place position. Brown recovered in 8th place but lost valuable time he had to make up through the remainder of the race.
Brown eventually charged forward to 4th place while Caselli had a flawless performance coming around the first lap in the lead position and maintaining it for the two-hour endurance race. Caselli’s second week at the top of the podium hands him a 4 point lead over competitor Ricky Dietrich as they head to the 9th round to be held at Glen Helen Raceway on September 19, 2010.
