You've had a month break since the last WORCS race; what have you been doing to stay in shape, prepare for this round?
I tried to treat this past month just like when the races are closer together, not giving myself much of a break. I'm of course still working with the guys from MotoX Nutrition to keep my body and mind ready.
With all the DNF's throughout the weekend, the extreme heat and drama in Sunday's final, it seemed this round was a battle of attrition - mechanical and physical. What did you do to prep your equipment - anything different?
I knew that Glen Helen was going to be a race that required a lot of power so I came into this race with a freshly built motor and a new exhaust design from Devil Racing Exhausts. The track was fast like I expected and my quad was pulling hard up the hills, so that definitely paid off.
Sixth place ties your best finish of the year (also placed 6th at Speedworld at the start of the season) - you have to be really happy with that.
"I've been training hard, but I have caught a bit of good luck these last couple races and I'm totally stoked with the 6th. I actually crashed in the Pro section during qualifying on Saturday so I gotta thank Ed from Teixeira Tech and my mechanic, my dad, for getting my quad prepped again for the race
Sunday.
So you have one more round and you are sitting solidly in 7th in points; what are you planning for Mesquite?
I'm just looking at this like any other race. I'm not the type to take the race easy and just get a finish to keep my 7th. I'm gonna push hard to try and beat [Mike] Cafro and hope for a little more good luck.
Any hint at news you can tell us for next year?
There isn't too much that I can talk about yet. But me and my new team have some big things in store for all of the ATV racing industry. Yeah, new team. We are putting together a team that can win races, but we will also be doing a lot to support the industry and get all the racers the exposure that we work
so hard to earn!
