  1:00pm Bilstein Race Update

The faster classes have begun their 30 second intervals of intensity as the Trophy Trucks, Class 1 Unlimited Buggies, and Class 8 trucks roar off into the desert.

Class 1 driver Eddy Gonzales mis-negotiated the jump before the second turn, about 100 yards from the starting line, resulting in an end over end roll. The SCORE medical response team were quick to his aid and an ambulance was not too far behind. Gonzales is currently being airlifted out and his co-driver Marco is undergoing CPR on the scene. There are now two more teams of paramedics on the scene. More updates as we get them.

  2:00pm Bilstein Race Update

We regret to inform you that Class 1 driver Eric Gonzales' co-driver Marco sadly did not survive the rollover incident early in the race. Our thoughts are with his friends, family, and team as they endure this horrible turn of fate. We'll have more info on this incident as soon as it's available.

The Trophy Trucks and Class 1 cars are returning to the finish line for the first of four times throughout the day. Pole sitter Cameron Steele was the first to re-cross the line in his Ford F-150 Trophy Truck.

The real action in the Trophy Truck race so far was when #4 Alan Phlueger, # 26 David Scaroni, and Ryan Thomas all came in within a second of each other. The stop sign at the start finish created such a bottleneck that Scaroni’s truck only had a half inch of clearance both front and back. As they sped away, the crowd got to watch Scaroni start to overtake Pflueger in the third turn. They hit the big table top jump at the end of the infield neck and neck, but Scaroni eeked out the lead while the two monsters were flying.

In Class 1 Unlimited, the action seems just as close. #101 was first over the line followed very closely by #103 and #102 respectively.

  3:00pm Bilstein Race Update

#87 Todd Wyllie was the first in from lap two after overtaking lap one leader Larry Ragland when Larry ran into some technical difficulty.

#38 Garron Cadiente was next across the line at 3:38 followed by Jerry Whelchel in travis Coyne’s #77 Trophy Truck at 3:44.

The next Trophy Truck to start lap 3 was Ed Herbst, who got to the line at 3:45 after undergoing a tire change and refuel at the main pits and just made it out in front of BJ Baldwin’s #1 truck.

#12 Larry Ragland was leading lap one, but as of this writing he is nowhere to be found.

At 3:49 Rob MacCachren graced us with the presence of the #3 Riviera Racing Trophy Truck with #31 Andy McMillin hot on his tail.

Alan Phlueger’s Monster Energy Drink sponsored #28 truck crossed the line at 3:50.

Chris Robinson and Bobby Baldwin crossed the line together in the #26 and #96 Trophy Trucks respectively.

#108 Armin Schwarz is the first Class 1 Unlimited car on the third lap by having crossed the finish line at 3:57

#101 Todd Cuffaro and #104 Justin Lofton round off the hour’s finishers being the second and third Class 1 car on the third lap.

Right now, of 26 Trophy Trucks, ten are on the third lap while only 3 of the hordes of Class 1 cars can make the same claim.

  4:00pm Bilstein Race Update

Todd Wyllie, the first to finish lap two, crossed the finish line for the third time before anybody else. Wyllie was the first to start the final lap in his #85 Trophy Truck at 4:44 eventually followed by #38 Garron Cadiente after a whopping 11 minutes at 4:55.

Truck #706 is the first in Class 7 to find his way into the final (third) lap at 4:56.

#1 BJ Baldwin is the third car on lap four at 4:59 followed by #19 Ed Herbst to round off the hour.

  5:00pm Bilstein Race Update

As of  5:32pm #38 Garron Cadiente leads #85 Todd Wyllie by three minutes and thirteen seconds with #1 BJ Baldwin only thirteen seconds down from the number two spot. These three represent the podium in both the Trophy Truck class and the overall race.

Mark Post’s #3 Trophy Truck is about seven and a half minutes off the leader’s pace.

Larry Roesler, driving Terrible Herbst’s #100 “Landshark” leads the Class 1 buggies. His closest competitor, #116 Bryan Parkhouse, is more than ten minutes behind his elapsed time.

The third spot in Class 1 Unlimited is currently held by #108 Armin Schwarz who is only 20 seconds from overtaking Parkhouse.

Pro Truck leader #235 Jason Voss is dominating the class as he is the only competitor in the field. He sits 24th in the overall standings for group B.

In Class 8, #802 Glenn Greer is over a half hour ahead of his distant competition #800 Nick Vanderwey in second.

Last but not least is Steve Looney in the #706 Class 7 truck. His lead is as significant as the gap in the front of the Class 8 pack with 35 minutes separating him from second place # 700 Dan Chamlee.

Trophy Trucks should be finishing soon. Stay tuned for more Primm 300 action, live on Off-Road.com!
