Jason Baldwin 1970 - 2005

The Baldwin family is dedicating the entire 2006 CORR season to the memory of Jason Baldwin

2004 CORR Pro-4 champion Jason Baldwin’s last short course race was right here, at his family’s track at Chula Vista. He passed away in a plane crash just after the Baja 1000 finish line in November. The Baldwin family is dedicating the entire 2006 CORR season to the memory of Jason Baldwin.

Jason’s wife Evie, herself a CORR racer, wanted to express her gratitude for the outpouring of love and sympathy she has received, and expressed those thoughts in a special letter written on race-dezert.com. Here is an excerpt of
that letter:

“I want to thank everyone in this big family of racers and chasers for being so kind to our family during these rough times. The prayers, phone calls, and condolences that have poured in have meant so much to me. Late at night I'll
get on-line and just read all the various messages posted in his honor. Some
with ‘Jason’ stories attached, some just to say, “Via con Dios”, ALL with prayer
and well wishes for me and my family. It’s been a healing that I never expected
and I am truly thankful to all of those who took the time out to say you cared…

Listen up boys, aside from racing.....

Kiss your honeys, your babies, your Moms and Dads. Pet your pets, hug
your pals, sing along to the radio, stay up late, make your lovers feel great.
Find your groove, hold your line, remember to have passion in your heart. Be honest with yourselves and spend all your time living life and loving those around you to the fullest of ways! A true sportsman is a gentleman at heart. Life is short. Give everything your best shot. Don’t lose sight of who and what is really important.

I believe he will always be there with us. I’ll still be around, sitting PrettyMuddy, side by side with Cissy and Kelley racing the CORR series - trying to kick each others’ asses as usual. If you see me around, don’t be a stranger. Come over and say “Hi” and introduce yourself. There are so many friends of his I still haven’t met. If you were a friend of his, you'll be a friend of mine.

Again, Thanks for all your prayers,
they mean a lot.
