1. Editor's Choice: Rough Country 50” Black Series Single-Row CREE LED Light Bar
There are plenty of LED light bars on the market vying for your hard-earned dollars, but few carries as exceptional a mix of price, performance, and a reputation for quality as this single-row Rough Country light bar. Sized just about perfectly for the JK Wrangler, this LED light bar pumps out an impressive 19,200 lumens from 48 efficient 5W CREE LED chips, arranged in a single row for a sleek, slim profile that looks great and keeps aerodynamic drag below that of a comparable two-row light bar. The housing is a tough one, with die-cast aluminum construction and an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. With a very useful combination spot/flood beam pattern, and a 3-year manufacturer warranty, this might just be the only LED light bar your Wrangler ever needs, not to mention one of the most experience-enhancing Jeep Wrangler JK accessories.
2. Best Cargo Accessory: EAG Jeep Wrangler JK Roof Rack Cargo Basket
The JK Wrangler is plenty roomy, but things can still get crowded in a hurry as soon as you start loading in packs, water jugs, tents, folding chairs, and all the other odds and ends you might need on your next camping excursion. That doesn’t need to be an issue with this roof rack cargo basket from EAG, which gives you a sturdy, secure place to strap excess cargo. Not only is it one of the most practical Jeep Wrangler JK accessories, but it’s also one of the best Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK accessories out there, being designed to fit both 2- and 4-door JK models. Made from fully welded, 1” round steel tubing with a rock-hard textured black powdercoat, this rooftop cargo basket ships with all the necessary brackets and fasteners to install on any JK Wrangler with a factory hard top – no separate roof rails required.
3. Best Bikini Top: Bestop Black Diamond Safari-Style Bikini Top
It sounds risqué, but bikini tops are immensely popular Jeep Wrangler JK accessories for one very good reason: they keep you and your passengers safe from sunburns, light drizzles, and falling debris, while preserving the refreshing, open-air trail driving experience the Wrangler is known for. And while there are plenty of Jeep JK bikini tops on the market, few if any can touch the winning combination of quality and price found in this black diamond safari-style top from Bestop. The tough Supertop fabric is weather-resistant and color-stable, and it’s been developed to resist stains and mildew. An industrial-grade webbing and reinforced edges help give the fabric some support so you can get it nice and taut with the super strong composite buckles, without worrying about tearing the fabric.
4. Best Recovery Accessory: WARN VR EVO 10-S Electric Recovery Winch
If you’ve been overlanding in your JK without a decent recovery winch installed, you should install one ASAP – preferably a WARN. WARN is hands down the biggest, most trusted name in vehicle recovery winches, and the VR EVO 10-S is perfect for the JK Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. It’s one tough son of a gun, with a generous 10,000-pound pull rating, a series-wound motor and planetary gear set for a fast line speed under load, and an IP68-rated housing that’s virtually impervious to dust and water. Ninety feet of either steel cable or synthetic rope are available, although we’ll always prefer the latter for its superior safety and easier handling, and if you need even more overhead, the VR EVO 12-S delivers up to 12,000 pounds of pulling force for just a bit more coin.
5. Best Portable Off-Road GPS: Garmin Overlander On-Road/Off-Road GPS Navigator
Finding a route to the grocery store is one thing: plotting an off-road course is something entirely different, beyond the scope of your average GPS navigation system. That’s where the Garmin Overlander GPS navigator comes in. The Overlander is built with a bevy of features aimed at the off-road enthusiast – things like topographical maps, public land boundaries, and 4×4 road mapping, with route planning based on height, weight, and length for large vehicles so that you don’t have to get stuck based on a bad route recommendation. The Overlander is also built tougher than your average on-road GPS navigator, and it’s loaded with too many other features to list, from iOverlander POIs to Ultimate Public Campgrounds, plus satellite communicator pairing that allows the unit to receive interactive SOS and weather forecasts.
6. Best Off-Road Tire Upgrade: BFGoodrich T/A KM3 Mud-Terrain Tires
One of the most popular mud-terrain tires found on the Jeep Wrangler today, the BFGoodrich T/A KM3 is one of the best performance-enhancing Jeep Wrangler JK accessories you can buy. It’s a substantial step up from its predecessor, the T/A KM2, with an advanced Krawl-TEK compound that delivers 8% more traction on rocks and slick surfaces, and a Linear Flex Zone that allows the tire to flex and better envelope objects when aired down. Naturally, it’s good in the muck, too, with mud-phobic bars and big void areas between the deep, aggressive tread blocks that facilitate excellent self-cleanout, and race-proven CoreGuard Max technology makes for a 27%-stiffer sidewall with outstanding chip and puncture resistance. Oh, and did we mention that this tire is a Baja champion?
7. Best Multi Purpose Sun Top: JKloud Jeep Wrangler JK Hammock and Sunshade
We don’t know anyone who doesn’t like a good bikini top, but if you like a bit more multifunction versatility out of your Jeep Wrangler JK accessories, check out this JKloud Wrangler JK hammock, sunshade, and cargo cover. That’s three functions, and believe it or not, this simple bit of military-grade fabric does all three with aplomb, installing in the top of the roll cage to serve as a UV-blocking sunshade, or between the B and C pillars within the cabin to function as a cozy hammock or cargo-securing wrap. It may be a tad pricey for what it is, but when it comes to Jeep Wrangler JK or Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK accessories, there’s little to be gained by cheaping out, and the scores of positive online reviews speak for themselves.
What Size Tires Can I Fit on My Jeep Wrangler JK?
The Jeep Wrangler JK came from the factory with tires measuring 33 inches in diameter or less, depending on the model. Rubicon models sat at the top end of the range with full 33”-diameter tires, while the Sahara left the factory with slightly smaller tires measuring about 32” tall. The base Sport model got the smallest of the bunch, at closer to 29” or 30” tires.
Of course, upsizing from the factory tire size can come with some advantages, especially off-road, where a tall sidewall helps the tire to flex and better envelope objects for improved grip, and a larger diameter means a bigger contact patch with more traction. Plus, you’ll have a bit of extra ground clearance, with the improved approach, breakover, and departure angles that implies. That all comes at the expense of some amount of wheel torque, as larger tires will effectively lengthen your Jeep’s gearing, and more unsprung and rotating mass, all else being equal, but the tradeoffs are often worth it.
The bigger concern with fitting larger tires on your Jeep Wrangler JK has to do with interference; to put it simply, you can only go so big before the tires start rubbing, either on your fenders or on the chassis. With that in mind, the biggest tires you can safely fit on an otherwise stock Jeep Wrangler JK or JK Unlimited are 33”-diameter tires, although plenty of owners have gone as big as 35” with minimal issues – just the occasional rub when the suspension is fully compressed. Fitting tires that large often requires removing the factory splash guards, however.
If you truly want to size up to 35” tires, or go even bigger than that, you’ll need to install a lift kit. Thankfully, the Jeep Wrangler is one of the most popular vehicles in North America when it comes to aftermarket parts support, so there are literally countless suspension lift kits on the market that can give you 2, 3, or more inches of lift to fit whatever tires you’d like.
