The SEMA Show is always exciting because of unique new products that are unveiled at the automotive show, and Superchips certainly provided a bit of buzz with the unveiling of its new VIVID vehicle performance programmer. The VIDID is coupled with the ARCHOS, which is a 4.3-inch Internet tablet (essentially an Android phone) that runs on the Android 2.2 operating system.

The Superchips VIVID offers hand-held tuning through the Android operating system.

The VIVID offers the ability to tune your vehicle, inspect gauges, vehicle diagnostics, offer Web connectivity and entertainment. It also includes a Bluetooth-enabled interface module as well that, via the OBD-II module, will connect the LCD to the vehicle so the user can tune the vehicle for additional horsepower, torque or fuel economy on the touch screen.

The VIVID also offers off-road-specific applications.

Superchips says this is the first device of its kind to successfully integrate personal electronic features (capture video, watch video, etc.) while also having the capability to upgrade to a GPS unit, backup camera and more. The VIVID features a 1 GHz processor and offers Web browing, e-mail, social media integration, wireless connective, apps for pictures, music and video … it’s essentially like your phone but it also offers the ability to tune your vehicle.

Superchips says the VIVID will be available in the spring of 2011. For more information, check out Superchips.com.
