While Chevy is busy preparing a new Silverado HD pickup for 2020, the 2019 model soldiers on with few modifications. The most visually arresting of the changes they have made? The Tribute Edition shown here.

Available on four-wheel drive crew cab models of the 2500HD with a standard box and LTZ trim, the Tribute Edition is stacked on top of the Z71 package. Checking the box for this option will add all of the Z71 gear such as skid plates and 18-inch all-terrain tires, plus black bowties and park assist sensors. You may have noticed the giant American flag along the side of the truck, too.

From the configurator, the flag is mirrored on both sides of the pickup, stretching from just aft of the front wheelwell right back to the tailgate. Given this truck checks in at 239.5 inches of overall length, that puts the flag decal squarely in the ballpark of being a solid fifteen feet long. A Z71 badge shows up on the leading edge of the front doors, where it looks at home compared to being slathered across the standard-length box flanks.

The new Tribute Edition, while restricted to a very specific trim, is available in a variety of colors. This is a pleasant surprise given that most appearance groups, such as the Custom Sport Edition, are only offered in black or white. The shade shown at the top of this post is the no-charge Red Hot color; check out the Deep Ocean Blue ($395) and Silver Ice combinations as well.

Either the Vortec 6.0L gas burner and Duramax 6.6L can be ordered with this Tribute Edition. The trucks shown here are clearly diesels, with its hood scoop being one of the dead giveaways. By the way, that scoop has a dynamic self-emptying catch system made of rubber, designed to filter out snow and other debris before they make their way into the engine.

Using the build & price tool, a 2019 Silverado 2500HD LTZ 4×4, with a crew cab and standard box, checks in at a base price of $52,500 plus freight. Selecting the Tribute Edition and attendant Z71 package sets the bar at $56,720 before rebates but including freight.
