Five UTV sizes of the knobby BFGoodrich KM3 will give trail enthusiasts more options for ‘wheeling through the mud.
BFGoodrich now has an answer for UTV enthusiasts who’ve been clamoring for a set of rubber to match the truck with which they hauled their rig to the trailhead. The Mud-Terrain T/A KM3, are tire we found more than capable during an off-road test in the wilds of Vermont, is now available in popular UTV sizes.
The newly available sizes have been specially engineered for sport and multipurpose UTVs, taking lessons from development of the road-going version.. Built with steel-belted radial construction and adapted from race-proven technology designed for Baja 1000-winning tires, the new UTV offerings balance toughness with minimal weight.
Just like their big brothers, the UTV-sized KM3 tires feature the brand’s “Mud-Phobic” bars between tread blocks near the tire’s shoulders. In a trick bit of tire tech, they are designed to flex and break the vacuum created when the space gets packed with mud, releasing the compacted gunk for enhanced traction in muddy or soft soil conditions. The tire’s Terrain-Attack tread pattern includes large tread blocks designed to deliver grip from just about any angle of approach.

It makes sense really, given that UTV drivers are probably the most likely to run headlong into a mudhole on their way to the cottage or simply while out for a rip. Not leaving out those who traverse rocky paths, the tire’s UTV-specific tread compound is designed to deliver enhanced grip on rock and other slick surfaces.
A creatively named Linear Flex Zone allows the tire to envelop objects when it’s aired-down for extra grip when climbing. The sidewall trim and notched shoulder design are also said to boost traction capabilities in soft soil and mud. Pinch resistance properties introduced into the sidewall help prevent tearing the tire apart in tight spots.
Three UTV sizes are available immediately, including 20×10.00R14, 30×10.00R14, and 30×10.00R15. Two additional sizes come online this November in the form of 32×10.00R14 and a beefcake 32×10.00R15
The UTV KM3 tires will start at $168, going up from there depending on size. We shouldn’t need to remind you that, despite their kinship to the on-road rubber, these KM3 UTV tires are for off-road use and are not DOT-approved for use on public roads. Tread lightly.
