Bryce Menzies Takes the Win at the 50th BFGoodrich Mint 400

The number 7 Trick Truck of Bryce Menzies has won the Best In the Desert BFGoodrich Mint 400 for the second time.

This year’s Mint 400 was a close race, with Carlos ‘Apdaly’ Lopez putting together an impressive drive that saw him running a few minutes ahead of Bryce. But it wasn’t meant to be. Lopez’s lights weren’t working correctly, so as the darkness fell, his impaired vision led to a flat during the final lap of the course. Bryce Menzies seized the opportunity and took the lead, although Apdaly did cross the finish line first.

But once the times were added up, it was Bryce Menzies that took the race.

Menzies began the race in seventh place while Lopez started second.

“This course was brutal. I don’t think I’ve ever been on a course that’s been so rough,” Menzies said at the finish line. Bryce has dedicated his race win to his grandfather who passed away shortly before the race.

In the early day race, Brock Heger was the fastest vehicle in his Class 1000 buggy with a total (unofficial) time of 5 hours and 53 minutes. Heger’s win is even more impressive considering he rolled his buggy at the end of lap two.
