Ram was arguably the first major manufacturer to build a trim specifically for the nation’s biggest truck market. Now, with their recently-refurbished 2019 model, the company is at it again with a brand-new Lone Star edition.

Today at the Dallas Auto Show, Ram unveiled the 2019 Ram 1500 Lone Star. It’s only available in Texas and can be spotted by eagle-eyed fans with its “Lone Star” tailgate and interior badges.

“The hard-working appeal of the Ram Lone Star has made it a favorite among Texas truck buyers,” said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand, FCA – Global. “Trucks are an important part of Texas life, and Ram trucks are proven to last. Ram’s long-lasting reliability has helped the Ram 1500 cement the highest owner loyalty of any half-ton pickup.”

Standard 2019 Ram 1500 Lone Star equipment includes the typical brightwork associated with past Texas trims, including bright front and rear bumpers, chrome door handle centers, and a bright grille surround with billet inserts. Snazzy 18-inch aluminum wheels and fog lamps round out the exterior juju.

This year, however, the company is adding two monochromatic options to the Lone Star trim, in the form of the Sport and Black appearance packages which are also offered on other Rams. This will create a broader mix of Lone Star styles for truck owners who prefer color-keyed styling touches rather than ladles full of chrome.

Good news for off-road fans: the cool and useful 4×4 Off-road Group that is available on all other 2019 Ram 1500 trims is available on the Lone Star as well. Packing most of the gear that’s standard on the Rebel, this new stand-alone group amps up the Ram’s rugged appeal.

An assortment of interior trims will be available, including the option of a front bench or buckets, a 60/40 split rear bench seat. A leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls is said to be standard across the board.

The Lone Star will initially be offered with the 5.7-liter V-8, with or without the eTorque mild hybrid system. A 3.6-liter V-6 Pentastar with eTorque will join the powertrain offerings later in the year but real Texans should bypass that option and head staright for the HEMI.

Buyers will be spoilt for choice, as the Lone Star trim will be offered on 4×2 and 4×4 powertrains, Crew and Quad Cab configurations, and 5 ft.-7 in. (Crew only) and 6 ft.-4 in. bed lengths.

Look for the Lone Star on Texas dealer lots sometime before the end of March this year.
