Ford’s Australian arm has confirmed that a Raptor version of the Ranger is coming.

A teaser video has been released showing the new off-road version of Ford’s midsize truck tearing through the outback, confirming that the mini Raptor will be hitting the market in Australia by 2018.

While Ford won’t confirm that this truck is coming to the US, spy photos of it testing here seem to have already tipped the brand’s hand. Although when it lands here in the US, don’t expect the Ranger to be the exact same as what Australia gets.

“While model details of the North American-spec Ford Ranger for 2019 have not been announced, the mid-size Ford truck will be tailored to the needs of customers here with unique styling, comfort and convenience appointments, engines and features,” said Ford spokesman Jiyan Cadiz. Much like Chevy does with the Colorado, the US-spec Ranger will have some specific features and styling to set it apart from the worldwide version.

Like the bigger Raptor, expect the Ranger Raptor to have fully upgraded suspension, probably with FOX shocks, more power than standard versions and some special styling. A version of the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 is a likely candidate to power the new small Raptor.
