AMP Research recently expanded its PowerStep line with the new PowerStep XTreme. This new product from the electric-powered running board company is aimed at trucks and SUV owners who get their vehicle off of the highway, since the new XTreme is designed to to work in mud, snow and ice.
The dual motors that power the electric-powered running boards are said to be twice as strong as the original PowerStep, a product we installed and reviewed just a few years back. AMP Research also says the new PowerStep XTreme offers what it calls “an aggressive platform” on the new model for additional grip. The XTreme’s boards feature a textured powder-coat finish and are constructed of die-cast aluminum components to resist corrosion.
Like the original PowerStep, the boards are designed to automatically deploy with the opening of the vehicle’s door and retracts when the door closes. The XTreme also features LED lights that turn on when the step is deployed to illuminate entry and exit. AMP Research notes that the PowerStep XTreme is made in the USA and its motors, drive system, and wiring harness, are all backed by a 5-year or 60,000 mile warranty.
