The Polaris GENERAL set a new standard in off-road comfort and refinement – built to work hard and play harder – when it was introduced this past November. With class-leading features needed to tackle the trails and a work ethic to handle tough jobs, the Polaris GENERAL has become one of the hottest side-by-side offerings on the market.
For Model Year 2017, Polaris answers the demands of consumers with the new benchmark in multi-passenger comfort: the Polaris GENERAL 4 1000 EPS (starting at $16,299). The GENERAL two-seat models are further enhanced with VersaTrac Turf Mode and a new Hunter Edition with Polaris Pursuit Camo.
The launch of the new Polaris GENERAL 4 1000 EPS brings ultimate comfort and refinement to the multi-passenger market. The vehicle is perfect for the family who wants to play all day and work when they need to. Similar to its two-seat counterpart, the new Polaris GENERAL 4 1000 EPS has a 100-horsepower ProStar 1000 engine, biggest payload, class-leading travel and ground clearance, a 600-lb. (272-kg) dump box, Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and an Engine Braking System (EBS) – with the addition of a second row of seats to bring two more passengers along.
For unmatched comfort for four, the GENERAL 4 1000 EPS has a completely new cabin for an all-new, multi-passenger ride experience. The rear passengers will enjoy class-best knee clearance and shoulder room, plus their very own center console with a 12-volt power adaptor and two cup holders. Factory-installed half doors offer extra protection from debris and easy in-and-out, work-friendly cab access. The roomy cab features bolstered bucket seats, adjustable for the driver and front passenger, providing a secure feel and ample leg room for all; while the thin-film technology under the seat cover enables a dry ride in wet conditions. Space-optimized foot rests for the driver and passenger also make for a secure ride.
Inside the cockpit, the GENERAL 4 1000 EPS is similar to the GENERAL 1000 EPS, featuring a customizable instrumentation cluster that tilts with the steering wheel and includes a combination of digital and analog gauges, giving clear readings of vehicle speed, engine RPMs and standard trip information. To keep riding and work essentials close, the vehicle has 48.26 L of integrated storage inside the cab, with a combination of enclosed and in-dash storage. Similar to the front console, the rear console not only is a comfortable armrest, but provides more storage, a 12-volt outlet and two cup holders.
For a stable and smooth ride, the Polaris GENERAL 4 1000 EPS has a 113-in (287-cm) wheelbase, complemented with a premium, performance-oriented Walker Evans suspension for ultimate control. The vehicle features a dual a-arm front suspension with a class-best 12.25 in (31.12 cm) of suspension travel and 13.2-in (33.53-cm) rear travel calibrated to soak up rocks, roots, bumps and ruts. The Walker Evans shocks were designed and tuned specifically for the increased payload and performance needs of four people. Standard front and rear sway bars keep the ride level and reduce body roll through aggressive cornering on trails. To maneuver through trail obstacles, the vehicle has a best-in-class ground clearance with 12 in. (30.48 cm) of ride height and a full-body skid plate for added underbody protection.
The new Polaris GENERAL 4 1000 EPS is available in Silver Pearl ($20,999).
To make the Polaris GENERAL two-seat models even more versatile, the exclusive VersaTrac Turf Mode unlocks the rear differential with a flip of a switch on the dash. The mode allows for easier and tighter turns so the vehicle treads more lightly on sensitive terrains such as lawns. Hunters will appreciate the addition of a Hunter Edition with Polaris Pursuit Camo paint and a hunting accessory package.
The Polaris GENERAL 1000 EPS is available in four trims. The base model is an in-mold plastic in Indy Red. The Polaris GENERAL 1000 EPS White Lightning will include automotive-style paint; Sport Low Profile Front Bumper and Polaris HD 4500-lb. (2041-kg) winch; and 14-inch (35.56-cm) Matte Black cast aluminum wheels paired with 27-inch (68.58-cm) Maxxis Coronado Tires. The Polaris GENERAL Deluxe Titanium Matte Metallic ($20,299) will have all the features included on the White Lightning model with premium adjustable FOX Podium X 2.0 QS3 Shocks and the addition of a Polaris GENERAL Pro-Fit Lock & Ride Sport Roof, rear-view mirror and MTX Premium Soundbar, with eight-speakers delivering 100 watts of premium audio through Six Performance 3-in. (7.62-cm) speakers and two 1-in. (2.54-cm) tweeters with Bluetooth connectivity. The Polaris GENERAL 1000 EPS Hunter Edition Polaris Pursuit Camo ($18,999) has a 4,500-lb. (2041-kg.) Polaris winch, front bumper and dual gun scabbards.
Polaris Engineered Accessories continues to expand its lineup of premium accessories to customize Polaris GENERAL’s versatility to ride harder and work faster. For 2017 the expanded accessory offering will include additional cab components and more storage solutions for the full lineup of vehicles.
