Hartford, Mich. – Hartford Speedway is proud to add short-course off-road racing to the 2016 race schedule. The two-day short-course event held July 30-31 will host four of the premier Sportsman race divisions from Midwest Off-Road Racing. 1600 Buggy, Super Buggy, Super Stock Truck and Super Truck competitors will compete on a specially designed race track that make its way around and inside Hartford Speedway newly configured .4 mile banked clay oval.
The venue has one of the largest weekly spectator turnouts in the Michiana area and with the addition of several special events like the Off-Road Challenge, Hartford Speedway is definitely a destination for motorsports fans all season long.
“We had a great 2015 race season and to keep our track a premier destination for both racer and spectator, there is a list of upgrades on the off-season schedule,” remarked track owner Tim Dibble. “This not only includes improvements at the facility, but to offer a variety of motorsports entertainment. Short-course off-road racing is just one of the new additions to the 2016 schedule.”
The event has the support of Midwest Off-Road Racing, a Sportsman racer based organization that works to create affordable and enjoyable racing for both the competitor and enthusiast alike.
“This event is a special non-points event that will showcase the premier Sportsman short-course classes to a new group of motorsports fans,” noted MORR Vice-President Don Demeny. “Hartford Speedway has a great reputation for its racing and our members look forward to racing there in 2016 as well as in the years to follow.”
The event also has its initial marketing partner, Allstar Performance.
“In recent years the off-road community has made the Allstar Performance Catalog a go to sourcebook for fabricators and enthusiasts,” commented Allstar Performance Manager Curt Spalding. “We are excited to see off-road racing at Hartford Speedway.”
The race format features each class racing once during the Saturday evening program and then again on Sunday afternoon.
Racers
The two-day event will feature guaranteed money to each racer (50% of entry fee) that crosses the finish line each night regardless of position (i.e. racers that finish both days will have entry fee returned). The guaranteed event payback will be determined by the combined finish of the two days of racing. For current guaranteed pay please visit event Facebook page. Spectators
Hartford Speedway offers concrete bleacher seating for 5,500 spectators, as well as Skybox rental and additional lawn seating. Hardcore race fans can arrive on Friday July 29, to watch the World of Outlaws sprint cars make their mid-season Michigan stop (separate admission ticket). Daily admission tickets as well as a discounted two-day passes will be available for the Hartford Off-Road Challenge.
