Although winter is coming, that didn’t stop Ram and Mopar from teaming up to produce a cool “fun in the sun” Ram Truck Concept in its Ram Sun Chaser.
Painted with a bright two-tone paintjob of Vibrance Orange Blast and Brilliant Black, the Ram 1500 Quad Cab is outfitted with a number of beach-going accessories. One of the most notable upgrades is a concept Mopar roof rack dubbed the “surf rack,” which featured two adjustable support rails that are fitted inside the truck bed to accommodate longer surfboards or stand-up paddleboards. The side hooks on the rack also offer storage space for up to four other surfboards.
For post-surf cleanup, the driver’s-side Rambox is fitted with a concept water tank equipped with a hose and portable shower head that can be clipped to the surf rack. Another cool feature in the bed of the truck is a concept “Flip-up” seat-back tailgate that will convert into a bench for relaxing or when changing into wetsuits or other water-related gear.
The Mopar team outfitted the 1500 with new 17×8 concept beadlock wheels with matching color-keyed rings, concept fender flares and a modified black tubular side-step rail for easy entrance in and out of the vehicle, which helps since Mopar did outfit the Sun Chaser with its 2-inch performance lift kit.
Inside the Ram 1500 concept are Katzkin leather seats that feature stitching to match the Vibrance Orange Blast paint. Mopar and Ram also color-matched the dash, display bezels and doors inserts. Mopar sill guards and all-weather mats can also be found inside.
The Sun Chaser is powered by a 5.7-liter HEMI engine, which gets an extra performance boost and a little more growl thanks to a Mopar cat-back exhaust.
