Jeep is paying tribute to its legendary roots with the unveiling of the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Willys ’41. Inspired by the 1941 Willys MB—a vehicle that became synonymous with durability and off-road capability during World War II—this limited-edition model merges modern plug-in hybrid technology with design elements that honor Jeep’s combat-born heritage.

In 1940, the U.S. Army sought a light reconnaissance vehicle and awarded contracts to three manufacturers, including Willys-Overland. The result was the Willys Quad, which evolved into the Willys MB after further refinements. The vehicle, later known as the “Jeep,” became indispensable during WWII, with Willys producing nearly 360,000 units. WWII reporter Ernie Pyle famously described the Willys MB as “faithful as a dog, as strong as a mule, and as agile as a goat,” underscoring its critical role in the war effort.

“Eight decades after cementing a reputation for all-terrain capability, straightforward design, and tough versatility, the spirit of the original Willys MB lives on in everything we do at Jeep,” said Bob Broderdorf, Senior Vice President and Head of Jeep Brand North America. “The 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Willys ’41 celebrates our history while showcasing how we continue to innovate and push the boundaries of what a Jeep can do.”
