Nitto now has an option for those of us who run LT all-season rubber.
Around here, Nitto is known for their Grappler line of off-road rubber. They know their stuff out on the open road and on the race track while Grappler handles the rough stuff. The cupboard could use a few more options for those running LT’s on the street, though.
The company is looking to change that perception with this, the NT420V. It marks Nitto’s first foray into the LT-metric all-season arena, a market populated with many established players. The LT metric-sized tire will have an F load range rating in an all-season pattern, which Nitto says will offer truck owners a proper load-rated application.
In addition to all-weather performance, the computer-designed tread pattern of the NT420V offers a striking and unique aesthetic profile with one-of-a-kind touches, including bold tread surface serrations. The distinct visual touches extend to the sidewall, where a diamond pattern is designed to draw attention to factory or aftermarket wheels.
We shouldn’t be surprised that a respected performance brand like Nitto is getting into the LT all-season game. After all, the SUV and truck segments are booming. There are plenty of people for whom the first stop on their way home from the dealership is the tire shop, replacing their ride’s stock rubber with more aggro hoops. Surely, Nitto is looking for a piece of that lucrative pie. The NT420V is not designed to handle Moab but it looks like a good option for someone looking to upgrade the rubber on their big-wheel SUV.
This new Nitto NT420V will be available in 32 different sizes designed for a wide range of 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton, and one-ton trucks; full-size SUVs; and crossover vehicles with rim diameters ranging from 20 inches to 24 inches.
