Headed into the deep powder with your Can-Am this winter? This set of Apache Backcountry tracks will have you covered.

Built for the Maverick Sport side-by-sides, plus the Outlander and Renegade ATVs, this kit is purpose-built for taking on the white stuff. Can-Am says that unlike some of the year-round options, the Apache Backcountry kit was designed specifically to elevate performance in the snow. Paying a visit to their neighboring BRP team across the hall, the kit draw technology from Ski-Doo snowmobile tech and the existing Apache 360 Track System.

An advantage of being engineered by Can-Am for their own off-road vehicles, the Apache Backcountry kit avoids the trap of many universal kits which can fall short in their attempt to provide a one-size-fits-all product. Your author can attest to these kits – at least those available in the ‘90s – as being evil accessories bent on turning knuckles into hamburger during the intermezzo known as Some Assembly Required.

On these units, the kit is said to be built to optimally match engine output and support chassis performance while delivering maximum performance without jeopardizing the vehicle or the track’s durability. Burning rubber with tracks is not desired, let me assure you. Given the gee-whiz tech in the Maverick, Can-Am has included a DPS module to ensure speedometer accuracy and to optimize track assist for ease of steering.

An aggro-style track design has 2-inch lug height pitched three inches for maximum bite. The rear tracks have a 14” x 138” contact patch while the fronts are 13.5” x 96”. That’s meaty. Apparently, these things add a good seven inches of ground clearance to your Maverick or Outlander/Renegade as well.

The Apache 360 and 360 LT kits remain available, with Can-Am being more than happy to sell them to riders looking for a year-round solution. These winter-focused tracks are available in dealers right now with a pricetag of $5350 plus the cost of a mounting kit ($650 on Maverick, $525 on Outlander and Renegade). Installation is free until the end of the year.
