General Motors is particularly proud of their new Sierra and Silverado. GMC has had pricing details on their site for ages. Now, it is Chevy’s turn.
The least expensive 2019 Silverado is a double-cab 2WD work truck with the standard-length bed. It sets an opening bid of $33,695. Checking the box for four-wheel drive adds $3300. Under the hood of this base model is the 4.3L EcoTec3 V6, an engine which makes 285 horsepower and is paired with a six-speed automatic.
But that’s not what you’re here for, right? No, me either. Let’s check out the Trail Boss.
For those who want to bust trails on a budget, the Custom Trail Boss starts at $40,995 for a Double Cab. It does, of course, send power to all four wheels. NOTE WELL: its base engine is the 4.3L V6 motor out of the work truck. Upgrading to the 5.3L V8 (the one with the six-speed transmission, not eight cogs) will set you back about $1400. Stepping up to a short-box Crew Cab will cost $2400 with either engine. A bevy of colors are available; this Havana Brown Metallic looks quite good.
Option groups include a $2400 Off-Road Appearance Package, adding the visual drama shown above. Convenience packages with features like cargo bed LED lighting are in the $800 range. An electric trailer brake controller is optional, as are under-the-back-seat storage bins. You can have any seating configuration you want so long as it’s a bench.
The snazzier LT Trail Boss is available only as a Crew Cab, but both short- and standard-length boxes are offered. Customers will be into it for $49,795 before selecting any other options. The better 5.3L V8 is standard here, with its eight-speed auto and dynamic fuel management system which allows for a variety of cylinder activation duties. The other 5.3L is only able to shut off a fixed number of pistons in a bid to save fuel. Both are rated at 355 horses.
Unlike the Custom Trail Boss, the LT has bucket seats available for $1805, a package that include dual-zone climate control and a few other gadgets. A variety of Convenience Packages ladle on stuff like a heated steering wheel and power sliding rear window for about $1400. Leather cost $985 but must be bundled with other items to the tune of over four grand.
A few extra colors are on tap, too. Your author will take this opportunity to applaud GM for offering such a wide palette of hues, eleven on this particular trim.
Stay tuned throughout the day as we dig deeper into the trims and option packages of the new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. Can’t wait? That’s cool. The build & price tool can be found here.
