For this model year, the Roush has cooked up an F-150 that’ll tackle your favorite off-road course with vigor.
The Roush F-150 returns for the 2018 model year in a new package. On board are a raft of unique body components, including a Fox 2.0 suspension system and 20-inch Wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson Baja ATZP3 all-terrain tires. The adjustable suspension is geared to raise the pickup’s front end, levelling out the rig’s overall height. Those 20-inch Mickey Thompson’s are a gargantuan 305/55 in size.
“Roush takes pride in providing consumers with innovative and powerful products that stay true to our name,” said Jack Roush Jr. “Our 2018 Roush F-150 SC is ready to take on your favorite trail, tow your boat to the lake, or handle your daily commute.” The company claims that the modifications don’t negatively affect the truck’s payload and towing capacities.
The company builds a side-exit exhaust for the truck out of 304-grade stainless steel, a composition which is made up of between 8-10% nickel in a bid to ward off corrosion. The company claims its exhaust creates a “signature rumble” as it dumps out the truck’s V8 noise on its starboard side. Roush’s active exhaust, an option that allows drivers to wake up the neighbors by adjusting the truck’s volume via physical switch or smartphone app, is optional.
This author recommends keeping it on the loudest setting, partly because he doesn’t live in your neighborhood but mostly because the 2018 Roush F-150 SC packs a muscular eight cylinders under its hood. The 5.0L V8 is topped with a Roush TVS R2650 supercharger, a combination that’s tuned to belt out 650 horsepower. A prodigious 610lb-ft of torque is on tap as well. These numbers are up by 50 and 53, respectively, compared to last year’s truck.
Introverts need not apply, since the modifications won’t go unnoticed by your buddies thanks to the exterior bling. A unique grille packing accent lights reminiscent of the Raptor is included, as is a natty front bumper cover that is compatible with Ford’s adaptive cruise control. Lit fender flares are installed, along with the customer’s choice of graphics packages.
Bring yer own V8-equipped 2018 F-150 and $22,999 of the finest American dollars to Roush if all this turns your crank. Like most of the company’s products, it’s backed by a three-year/36,000-mile warranty.
