Reviews of the new GMC Sierra pickup were published yesterday and the machines are rolling into dealers as we speak. Now, the Build & Price tool on GMC’s website is live.

Even as stories were being published yesterday, full pricing details beyond the AT4 and Denali trims were not abundantly clear. Thanks to a very recent update on the GMC page, we now know how much they’re charging for volume models. Plus, there is a value-packed off-road package (not the AT4) that all hands should know about.

For now, the new 2019 Sierra will start in SLT trim, with SLE and a base trim showing up later on. There is also only a Crew Cab short-box configuration from which to choose, as the company has decided to roll out the high-demand trucks before starting to build regular cab workhorses.

The SLT 4×2 sets an opening price of $48,195 which nets buyers a 5.3L V8 and choice of three colors. Anything beyond Onyx Black, Summit White, or Cardinal Red will set you back at least $395. This figure does include the trick MultiPro tailgate, heated leather bench seat and steering wheel, automatic rear locker, and 3.23 gears.

GMC’s Pro Grade Trailering Package is standard – including a hitch, trailer brake controller, and the app – but it’s important to note this is not the beefy Max Trailering Package.

Of major interest to off-roaders will be the very-reasonably priced X31 Off-Road Package. Priced at just $850, it bestows the Sierra SLT with:

  • Off-Road suspension
  • Hill Descent Control
  • Skid plates
  • Heavy-duty air filter
  • X31 hard badge
  • Integrated dual exhaust with SLE, Elevation Double Cab and SLT

We will have to see what GMC means buy “off-road suspension” but it is a decent amount of kit for $850, especially since its seems to be a standalone package requiring no other options (except for 4×4, of course, which adds $3300 to the 2WD price listed above)

Note, too, that the pricing tool mentions this X31 package as being available on SLE and Elevation Double Cab models, even though those are not yet available. Knowing this gear will be available on those cheaper trims is great news.

Pricey packages abound on the SLT, including a $5825 SLT Premium Plus Package which sounds like a soup cracker but actually adds bucket seats and a sliding rear window plus 20” wheels and all manner of safety nannies. For $3060, the SLT Premium Package adds all of the above except for the active safety gear. An even better value? The $1460 SLT Convenience Package which does without the 20” hoops but includes all that other gear listed in those other two expensive packages.

Max Trailering Package, your author’s favorite, is priced at $850 and – like the X31 – is a standalone option. Good. For the cash, buyers will get:

  • Handling/Trailering1 Suspension Package
  • Enhanced cooling radiator
  • Revised shock tuning
  • Heavier duty rear springs and increased RGAWR
  • 76″ rear axle
  • 42 axle ratio

The site makes mention of a rear locker and electric trailer brake controller but those items come standard on the SLT anyway. It cannot be paired with the X31 Off-Road gear.

Slinging the mighty 6.2L V8 and 10-speed automatic under the hood will raise the SLT 4×4’s base price by $2495. In this context, it is absolutely worth it. And, yes, one can still get a Sierra with the 6.2L and a bench seat. God bless America.

Fancy-pants Denali customers will find their 4×4 trucks starting at $59,495 and $61,990 for the 5.3L and 6.2L respectively. You can have it in any $0 color as long as its black – anything else will set you back at least $395.

A $5350 Denali Ultimate Package will tempt buyers seduced by 22-inch polished aluminum wheels and MultiPro power steps. A sunroof and more cameras than a pawn shop will dot the exterior of a Sierra so equipped, along with a raft of active safety gear. Those 22s measure 275/50/22, by the way. They’re listed as all-season blackwalls of indeterminate lineage.

But, of course, the big question posed by most people is “What’s the most expensive one?” Well, a check-all-the-boxes 6.2L Denali 4×4 checks in at *gasp* $72,665. Top-tier pickups aren’t for the faint of heart (or wallet) any more.

We’ll continue to dig through the building tool and update this post if we find additional cool details, especially AT4 news. In the meantime, here’s the link for you to build your own.
