Didn’t pop for the Hummer H1 by Mil-Spec because you wanted a slant-back? Well, now you’re out of excuses.

Following up on its Launch Edition machine, a brute of a rig hewn from the finest materials, the Michigan-based company has released sketches of another H1 tribute. Fittingly but unimaginatively called the Launch Edition #002, this truck takes on the slant-back bodystyle made famous during Operation Desert Storm.

According to the company, #002 will be finished in triple black and is actually their first customer delivery. Mil-Spec describes it as a “spec-ed”, developed by working closely with a client. This truck is said to feature most options available on the Launch Edition model series.

The Mil-Spec H1 retains legendary off-road specs boasted by the original machine on which it is based. An approach angle topping fifty-seven degrees ensures drivers can climb just about any obstacle (and probably a few concrete walls), assuming they haven’t simply run over the obstacle with their 18-inches of ground clearance. Breakover and departure angles are 29- and 47-degrees, respectively. To put that in perspective, a new Ford Raptor measures 30-, 22-, and 24-degree angles in approach, breakover, and departure.

Its re-crafted H1 body is made from aircraft-grade aluminum and gets an in-house textured body coating. In these photos, that coating has a rough appearance not unlike a spray-in bedliner. It is undoubtedly, make of stouter stuff that that, however, with some outlets putting forth the speculation it is comprised of Kevlar. Not a bad guess.

We will remind you the Mil-Spec H1 is powered by a 6.6L Duramax diesel V8 is rated at 500 horsepower and an even 1000ft-lb of torque. Pressing itself into terra firma with 7500lbs of weight, this H1 will simply flatten any adversaries which it cannot outrun. Hauling down the enemy base camp shouldn’t be a problem with that much torque, either.

The original H1 didn’t offer its passengers much in the way of creature comforts. It’s a good chance the Mil-Spec version will correct that deficiency, assuming products from similar companies like ICON and Singer are any indication. Despite its girth (104.5 inches wide!) the H1 can only accommodate four passengers, thanks to the massive driveline tunnel. That tunnel, however, allows for the H1’s legendary off-road prowess as the majority of the trucks’ important driveline bits are tucked up there, away from potential calamity.

As their website notes, Mil-Spec Automotive is an independently owned and operated business not affiliated with AM General or General Motors Corporation. Look for a formal release about this #002 in the coming weeks.
