The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss will spawn a GMC variant – the 2019 GMC Sierra All-Terrain.

A prototype for the Sierra All-Terrain has been photographed testing by our eagle-eyed spies, indicating it will arrive sometime this year. The off-road prepped 2019 Sierra is expected to receive most of the equipment that makes the Silverado Trail Boss a, uh, trail boss. That includes the two-inch lift, locking rear differential, Rancho shocks, Goodyear Duratec tires and underbody skid plates.

While this is not confirmed, our well-informed source tells us the beefed-up Sierra will indeed receive an All-Terrain badge. This would make sense, as the off-road ready GMC Canyon is also called All-Terrain.

As for the powertrain, don’t expect any surprises. The All-Terrain will serve as a trim package, so it will be available with the same 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 as other Sierra 1500s. The 5.3-liter is paired with GM’s eight-speed automatic, while 6.2-liter models will get the newer ten-speed auto.

We’re expecting to see the 2019 GMC Sierra All-Terrain appear at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. GM’s been known to host its own debut events, though, so it could skip the show in favor of an arrival in late spring or early summer.
